Campsite - not for us
Aug 2020
We booked for two nights, but just stayed the one as it became apparent pretty quickly this was not the right place for us. The campsite itself was OK, but other people, especially the lack of rule enforcement, made the trip pretty rubbish to be honest. Positives:  - Toilets were clean, with hand sanitiser on entry to the toilet block.  - The ground was nice and level, and easy to pop our tent up on.  - The gentleman who greeted us and checked us in was also very friendly. - Easy to find, and close to everywhere we needed to be. Negatives:  - Bits of plastic and rubbish in the grass.  - Multiple off lead dogs from several different groups on the site for near enough for the entire duration of our stay. On more than one occasion we had off lead dogs right up to our tent, on one occasion the dog was unaccompanied by a human and was just roaming. This could have been resolved if the rule in the terms and conditions re. no off lead dogs was enforced, but even when we were checked in there were dogs off lead and no notice was taken.  - The noise. The rule is to keep the noise down after 22:00, however it was 22:30 when loud music was turned off, only to be turned back on at 00:30. People were chatting, laughing, literally running right past our tent and screaming up until 02:30. Walking through the campsite to go to the toilet in the night is obviously OK, however the sheer amount of noise that was made when doing so was unnecessary. As a result we got barely a few hours of sleep, and had a very stressed dog, right up until the noise started all over again at about 06:00. - Smoke. We had at least two families smoking near us. I can't recall if there is anything mentioned about smoking in the T&Cs, however regardless of this, passive smoking is not for me. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. Yes, it was a busy time of year to go, however being busy wasn't the problem - the inconsiderate nature of the other campers was, along with the failure of management (there was a phone number on the gate but was marked as emergencies only so we were unable to report concerns). We booked as online it looked like a nice campsite (and I used to feed the ducks at the lake as a child!), and if the rules were followed/enforced it may have been ok, however this was sadly not the case and not a place we will be staying again.

Could do with tidying up by the ducks as bins are overflowing. Pretty place to feed the ducks in all seasons. Lovely dog walks from that place in many different routes. Car space is bit tight if u down there on busy day. Take bread with u as no shop nearby, small village.

Went back to Radwell lake with now older grandchildren, little changed since we took our children way back. Ducks Geese Swans and variety of wildfowl happy to come from all parts for a feed, car parking good and easy to find.

We walked down to Radwell Lake (is it really a pond?) when staying at the nearby Days Inn. The location is great if you have kiddies who like to feed the ducks and geese but keep away from the swans!

We drove past here to get to Radwell Lake Campsite.
Kids loved feeding the wildlife, which seems friendly enough, and not at all bothered about gatecrashing our tent one morning !!
Lovely quiet place. In a tiny village.

Radwell Lake, a man made creation, is well known locally as the place to see ducks and other water fowl. In a mainly chalk landscape the lake is an exceptional body of water with an exceptionally large population of water fowl for the area. There is a small parking area for a couple of cars and seating made from treetrunks. There is a small camping site at the Manor House. At nearby Stotfold there is a caravan club seasonal site. The Kingfisher Trail passes through Radwell and there is also easy access to the Letchworth Greenway The lake is not accessible for recreational activities.

There really isnt alot too see at the lake, children would find it more interesting feeding the ducks, you cant walk round it. We have no idea why this lake is a tourist attraction at all. Maybe worth a quick look when passing but thats all.

A very pretty location, lots of friendly ducks to feed and a few picturesque country walks start here.

I was brought here as a child to feed the ducks and now bring nephews and nieces to share those memories.
