This is one of three former Nazi submarine bases in France left over from World Wat II. I have been to the one in the city of Lorient twice, once with my wife, and just last August 2018, with my nephew. You can take a...More

The scale of this is incredible and too think it was attacked so many times by heavy bombers during the 2nd WW. It is pretty impressive but check opening times and also visit the Taberly yachting centre next door.

Went to the submarine base on a bit of a cloudy day, what an amazing experience- advice is to book before you go though as it’s busy in the core summer holiday period. Visiting K3 via the tour is an absolute must, 1.5 hrs but...More

Very interesting place, excellent guide who gave a brief insight to the facility and it’s history. The place impacted the lives of the locals, the allied side and the German sailors and on shore personnel. A must for students of the world war 2

You will find three huge concrete structures. The museum is in building one and include a visit to a French submarine that has been adapted so that you can walk through and experience the living conditions on board. The majority of the submarine pens have...More

Just a great work of engineering. Well worth the trip and tour. Massive concrete and barely scratched during all the bombing.
