Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were staying in Le Bois De Valmarie campsite and the beach is almost adjacent to it. Really convenient, 2 x minute walk/ easy to cycle to, pretty quiet and good for swimming and snorkeling.
The access road to it had a number of bars/restaurants along it, some with direct access to the beach so it enabled us to spend the day quite happily on the beach and then having a choice of venues on our way back to the campsite. Very pleasant area.

This is a relatively small Sandy beach with a few nice restaurants nearby. Good vibes no huge crowds and the sand is excellent quality.

Spent the day on the beach. Relatively quiet in September, but a number of nice bars and cafes. Some attractive looking properties for rent right on the beach which we will try and contact.

Easy parking, nice beach with facilities but not golden sandy - course sand ( which is handy for towels!) Nice restaurants nearby.

Funky laid back vibe. Huge difference to the busy Argeles-sur-Mer PLAGE. Off the beaten track with free parking nearby

It's lovely here, yes there's no slot machines, sunbeds etc, go along the coast for that. Yes it can get windy it's the tramontane which starts from 2pm, but everywhere gets that. A scattering of beach bungalows and a few low key restaurants - free toilets, free parking and loads of space, what more can anyone want. The headland walk to coulliore is a good way to get excellent views if you have a few hours but take walking shoes not sandals as the path is stored in parts. Outstanding.

Great beach, able to park even in August free of charge. Toilet facilities, along with shower, lifeguard station. Not too crowded, family atmosphere. Lovely backdrop of hills. Food and snacks together with beach supplies on road near beach. Water clear and sand clean.
Did get a little windy at times but this was welcome as we were rather warm.

We have been coming here for 10 years, only a short drive from our flat in Collioure.
Reading some of the reviews people have said it is Stony and not sand they must be confused with another beach! As it is a most beautiful sandy beach. Even in high season there is always space on the beach.Big free car park which gets very full in the season but there is a big free area for parking as you come into Racou. Yes out of season when they take down the Life guard Station it gets deserted.

Lovely little lanes behind the beach with many little houses. The Oasis is a favourite restaurant just back from the car park. Also Catus Bleu on the main street, good food. There is a small grocer shop which sells everything.
And a visit to the little wine bar at the far end is a must. Also they sell boxes of wine which are very good. Eleven euros for five litres.

Racou has a great beach and a quaint bohemian atmosphere Several small bars and cafes line the main street The beach shelves very quickly and just under the waterline it is rather stoney but the best part of the is near the rocky outcrops as it is much sandier there

Loved this place when we stayed at Bois de Val Marie some 14 years ago, came back for a nostalgic look and still love this place. No it isn't sandy, yes it is pebbly, but that's the point, no annoying sand in shoes and on towels and you! Great place to snorkel and great beach to chill out on. Enjoy the doughnuts and peanuts on sale along the beach as well
