Fort Bellegarde is a fascinating place with a history going back from the Romans (at the border post just behind the fortress) to the Second World War. There are often good exhibitions or concerts in the main building & wonderful views in all directions from...More

The fort is not much of an organised visitor attraction, but is a very large construction in a pretty delapidated state. However, one can enjoy walking around to explore how a fort and barracks work, but the big plus for the site is the magnificent...More

Amazing views and history here. As well as the inside, make sure you walk around the outside, and visit the abandoned garrison buildings to the south - quite eerie to think of all that went on here. Also visit the graveyard, and the Roman road...More
