We (me, the wife and our 2 kids aged 2 and 4) visited the castle during Halloween, the castle was themed for the occasion with hours of fun for us all with activities such as:
A word search clue hunt
What an amazing castle - easy to visit and look around with enough interpretation to whet the appetite for further research.
Cafe is excellent with home made soup and crusty rolls - yummy. Good coffee too.
Lots for children around Halloween too.

The castle was not massive but it was very interesting to walk around and the garden was lovely.
They have information boards around the castle which the children found fascinating.
The views from the top was well worth the climb up the spiral staircase.
Visited as a location for a family wedding, the location was great and the castle made for a perfect and private place to spend the day.
Add to that a fantastically warm and bright day and you have it.
