Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Absolutely wonderful. A major highlight of our trip to France.

The château, built in 1748, is a charming mini-Versailles. The owner has made painstaking efforts to restore and maintain the interior and exterior to an historical state, from the gardens to the décor and furniture right down to the door handles and window frames. The estate itself is framed by historical outbuildings including an old country chapel that can be visited. There are modern amenities as well, notably the outdoor heated pool which we very much enjoyed, and the breakfast (included) and supper (extra) were delightful.

My son and I stayed here for two nights, with the intent of visiting nearby battlefields of the Great War (1914-1918). We ended up spending more time at the Château than intended just because it was so pleasant and charming. Not only did we learn about the history of the Great War (the Château itself was an HQ for British medical personnel, and there are Commonwealth cemeteries nearby that we walked to), but also it was an opportunity to learn about the deeper history of this region of France itself, including the revolutionary period. The owner is passionate about the subject, and we had some long and fascinating conversations about it.

If I ever return to this part of the country, I will absolutely be going back to the Château Couin.

We were taking a 1 week battlefront tour and needed a place in the Somme. My wife found this wonderful Chateau. Completed in 1750, the Chateau was a British Medical center during WWI. The hostess has stories of families who had grandfathers treated there. The beds are comfortable and the hostess charming. For those looking for a tour, they stop giving them in October so I recommend making tour arrangement beforehand.

We had 1 night in this amazing Chateau built in 1743 and in the process of being lovingly restored by its owners to its original glory.
At the moment they only have 3 rooms ready but they have a total of 61 rooms but it will be a life times work.
The owners are wonderful people who cooked us a typical French meal then allowed us into their private rooms to watch the England football match.
We would love to return one day to see how they are getting on but would recommend this to anyone who loves History as its like staying in a stately home together with all the fixtures and fittings. Its Fabulous.

Went especially to visit the Chateau only to find it closed, would recommend you try to find out if it is open before you visit, you could see some of it from the footpath through the trees, was very disappointed

Well it is something to sleep in a Chateau built in 1748 which has lived through so much history in the Somme

Since 2003 it has been held by the present owner and it functions as a Bed and Breakfast

I was visiting the war grave of my great-grandfather and this was one of the newest forms of accommodation when I did a search I found a Chateau which looked interesting

When I arrived in Couin I did not realise that the place was special so it was marked up as a historical monument not as a B and B

I arrived at 1530 and the gate was closed so I called the hotel but got an answer machine I call booking com and they suggested I waited until 1630

At 1600 the owner arrived in an English painted Mini

She showed me round the building which was not a museum but a worn out functioning B and B

The building has character and the owner was very friendly but it has the shabby feel of staying in a house of poor gentry

I was then told to eat an evening meal I would have to travel to the town of Doullens which was 23 k away

It is an experience to stay here at 110 euro for a night but you are in the middle of nowhere and you can understand why so many gentry moved into smaller houses
