Les Hortillonnages d'Amiens was one of the main choices for our visit and we were not disappointed. First of all we wandered round some of the paths and then onto Camon which allowed us to walk in a circuit. We then enjoyed the boat trip...More

A trip around the Hortillonnages is a pleasant change for the inner city bustle. A very gentle but interesting trip, the commentary was only in French but even with school boy French you can pick up plenty of interesting information.

So this is a slow boat ride among canals in Amiens. There are many flowers and ducks to be seen. There may have been narration but my French was not up to getting it. Also, it’s really hard to find the dock. If you’re in...More

It is a slow peaceful place and the boat ride was relaxing, but to the extent that it was a bit boring. There were some sculptures but it would be difficult to call it art. You could see some of the gardens were well looked...More

Soon as we arrived in Amiens I spotted this large green swathe on the map. It started just a few hundred metres from our accommodation so it was ideal for a morning 10k. The area has been around for over 800 years. It is a...More

Been here twice, and a perfect place to cool off on a hot day in a 45 minute trip in an electric powered boat. Interesting birdlife and beautiful gardens with some interesting features in some cases. Helpful guide in English available and the person in...More

I can understand why this place is called the Venice of the North. Canals wind their way throughout some beautiful gardens and the boats that you ride in are silent and peaceful. I didn't have high expectations when I went here, but felt like it...More

Visited as part of a cycling tour with Justine but could have spent longer. Beautiful gardens with a history dating back to the Romans

We had time to spare and did a bit of googling as you do when speaking the local language is not your forte. We came across these canal boat trips. 65 hectares of marsh land were changed into beautiful floating gardens. There are miles and...More

You can get a boat from Boulevard Beauvillé - it’s marked on local maps. From memory it was about €8 each. The trip itself takes about 30 mins but you may have to wait for a while at busy times.
