This modern museum should complement any visit to the WW1 Somme battlefields. Very well set out within the walls of the the town's historic Chateau. Extensive exhibits of every kind dating from 1914-18 ... posters, soldiers' mementoes, domestic items etc. Very cleverly set out floor...More

Dont rely on your navigator or the signs to take you to the right place, google was my friend when the first 2 failed. But once located, it was great. The restored castle should be contrasted with the almost destroyed building after WW1. The museum...More

Excellent museum of the Grande Guerre! Our family was there celebrating the 100th anniversary of our grandfather’s WW1 service in this region of the Somme, and the museum was perfect—even displaying a full uniform from the U.S. 27th Division to which our grandfather belonged! It’s...More

This is a very modern museum in an old castle. A lot of well described exhibits in French and English. Wonderful coverage of the Australian campaign to liberate Péronne and surrounding area from the Germans in 1918.

This museum is a modern building within the walls of the old castle. It is very well presented with fascinating displays which give sufficient detail without bombarding visitors with too much information.

We visited here & Thiepval on a joint ticket and seeing both was a very worthwhile and informative afternoon. The Historial is set out into three sections: The lead up to war, 1914-16, 1916-18, with particular focus in the latter section on the changing nature...More

The location is excellent as the historic castle facade now houses the museum, it translates the period of the older uses into the WW1 era. Internally the layout is excellent and the exhibits are well presented and explained, a really useful and interesting place to...More

In a restored, war damaged old castle, this relatively new museum presents an extremely interesting exhibition on WW1, focused on the experience of soldiers and individuals without any great emphasis on the weapons of war. Good café.
