Beautiful all year round

I reviewed this regional park when we first discovered it in October 2012, hoping that some money would be spent on clearing paths and marking them. To my amazement, it has been! We've been regular visitors for the last year and it's a fantastic place for nature lovers, bird watchers, hikers, picnickers, horse riders, berry pickers, sloe gin makers, mushroom hunters, fishermen and women. One highlight is the walk up above Civitella (near Percile) to view the eagles' nest. Apparently, a pair of Golden Eagle have nested there for about 20 years. Last year no young were born, but this year we were told a few weeks ago, they've laid an egg. Does anyone know who in the area would have more info?

Hike the Sabine Mountain ridges

The Ranger Station is located in Piazza Manetti, Orvinio on the 2nd floor. Although the regional park is huge, sign posting is intermittant and trails are rustic. Full of native species, but also open to roaming farm animals- cattle and horses. Few people exploring the park. Make sure you have a map, GPS and a phone.

very beautiful and pretty wild. hardly any marked footpaths. hopefully the local towns will spend some money to make it accessible to everyone - not just hunters and locals
