Four of us spent 5.1/2 hours looking around the many excellent exhibits on show. There is so much to see and the staff are keen to pass on their knowledge, especially the chap in the colliery who was full of enthusiasm and very interesting. Had a very enjoyable lunch in the tea room in the town, not too expensive either.

My husband and I have had a fantastic day out at Beamish. It is the best museum we have ever visited made even better by the wonderful friendly staff especially Daniel Dixon in the garage who took time to talk to us and made us realise how its not just a job but a great place to visit. The fish... More

Having first visited Beamish Museum 31 years ago with my future husband it's great to see the changes that have taken place over the years. Now living only a few miles away, for the past 16 years we have brought our own children who are now grown up and now bring the little ones we foster. We had such a... More

I honestly love beamish! The only place I know that you can step back in time and walk through a village of olden times. Trams and buses will take you around but to get the real experience walking is the best way to take it all in. There's the pit village with the fish and chip shop, school and houses.... More

You can't do Beamish justice with a quick visit - a couple of days is a good idea, and as the tickets are valid for a year, this isn't a problem. The staff and volunteers are brilliant - very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and informative. The cafe is good and reasonably priced. The whole site is well laid out and interesting... More

My mum bought me and my sister a Twilight Baking Experience each for Christmas, unfortunately my sister was busy so mum came with me instead - Beamish had no problem with this, and even though costume sizes are to be submitted 3 weeks before the experience, 4 days before my mum sent an email, and was told it wouldn't be... I went to the Beamish museum on a cold Friday march morning and it was a wonderful experience from the old tram to the country cottages the small farm to the old railway with the old coal mine that you can actually still go inside . It is exceptional as an accurate account of the days gone by it's like... More

We visited Beamish in May 2016, our family tickets last 12 months, so coming from Yorkshire we have made several visits! Great place for children to learn, so much to see. Good catering facilities on site, but you can take a picnic as there are several great locations to sit down to eat.

It is a few years since we have visited Beamish and there has been quite a lot of additional buildings.

We travelled 250 miles there to see this museum and when entering the car park the first thing we see is school buses unloading what seemed hundreds of children, we walked to Home farm with our two small dogs, we saw three horses and a cow? We could not see inside as dogs are not allowed but school children are,... More
