All reviews guided tour in advance by foot unesco site great visit excellent tour german tour mineral exhibit interesting place english speaking various types interesting visit world heritage many years interesting history mining train
We heard that this was fun from my sister, who visited with her family so we went.
We bought tickets for the mine train and my boys were quite excited.
The guide was only on German and really like to hear himself. After a loooong...More
I decided to take „Fire & water guided tour”. Unluckily it was given in german language but very interesting. If somebody decides to visit this place I recommend to call and ask for non german speaking tourist guide.
Sadly we did not know we had to book an English tour in advance and had to take the German tour - we could not speak a word of German. This was disappointing. All the exhibits are in German with not a single exhibit in...More
Its a big authentic minecomplex, but whats in display I found a bit dissapointed, also the stated its in. To really get an idea of how things worked you must take a tour, there are several options. I take the one which explained how the...More
Took the tour of the old mine shafts. It was just what I had hoped for. Narrow passages. Steep staircases and a well informed guide. We went with a German tour guide but she spoke well English and we maneged to get a good grip...More
Really interesting "museum". You can choose between three or four different tours without reservation. We took "Der Roederstollen" and "Vom Erzbrocken zum Konzentrat". Both tour guides were pretty good informed and entertaining. And both tours were very authentic (genuine machines shown at their native workplaces)....More
Very disappointing. Tours were only in German or Danish. No English and neither any encouragement that they might give some English assistance. Odd since (almost) all Danish speak English! Anyway, we left.
Guess they don’t like the English here.
Great visit with two the tours into the mine. A really interesting history and exciting to see how mining had developed over several hundred years. We had a great Danish speaking guide and that made the visit perfect as we could get all the details...More

We took the "railway" tour, and there was very little walking involved. No hiking at all. (We were there with very young kids.) You board a train like the one the miners were using (have to bend a bit to get in the wagon), 5 min ride, then walk a little inside the mine to see the machinery they used back when the mine was in function. The ground can be damp/wet, so better wear shoes (not sandals). Tour lasted 1 hr, very instructive, unfortunately in German only.
