Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely for walks , not pushchair friendly
Dog friendly
I was furious that they had shut the women’s toilets but not the mens.
Not sure why.

Despite growing up next to Dartmoor this was my first visit to Meldon. It was absolutely beautiful! We took a circular route from the car park, up across the moors (looking down on the reservoir) and back and then decided to take another walk from the car park up to the Viaduct and old quarry. The viaduct has some lovely viewing points down some steps on each side with benches if you want a quick break with a nice view. Lots of other routes for nice walks from this point by the looks of it but we didn’t venture further afield today. Mixed terrain for various fitness/ability levels depending on which routes you take. Dogs on leads due to livestock.

I stopped here in March on the way down to a holiday in Cornwall. The car park is accessible and a decent size. I walked up to the highest point in Devon and then down and around the reservoir starting at around 8 am with not a soul in sight for the first two hours.
A lovely walk and I would happily visit again.

Parked at the reservoir car park. Cash needed £1 for 3 hours. £3 from May 1st. Have walked towards Sourton Tor then back on Granite way. Also towards Sourton Tor then left and down to Vellalake and back along side of reservoir. Also left out of car park down below the Viaduct and back round. Or join Granite way down lane from car park. What more can we say. Gorgeous walks!

Car park with public toilets (cleanest I've used). Short walk to the reservoir/dam, safe walking environment with our two dogs. The views to the viaduct and surrounding area stunning. Encountered ponies, flora and forna amazing. The weather was against us which made the falls spectacular but limited our exploring time.

This was an excellent recommendation on a beautiful sunny Devon day.
Nestled at the edge of Dartmoor with parking £1 for 3 hours and super clean toilets.
A gentle slope down to the dam with a bench to sit and admire the plumptious green slopes of Dartmoor opposite and enough paths and trails to please all types/ages of walkers /nature lovers and explorers.
Fantastic reservoir views all round...including Meldon Viaduct with the West Okement River meandering down the valley below.
A picnic spot...birds...bees...butterflies - you can enjoy the tranquility or head off down a path or trail on an adventure...especially if you're young or like to think you are!
Great for photographers...artists too...I'm sure it has many moods throughout the seasons.

Beautiful views of both the reservioir and the viaduct in one place. We parked up in the reservoir car park to take a look at this area the first time until we realised we could walk there from our lodge at meldon lodge park. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area.
