Visited the monastery which is absolutely beautiful. The church is Bavarian Baroque and huge. The grounds are very pretty and some of the buildings have now become part of the Technical School of Munich University so they were not open to the public. VERY beautiful Rokoko church in a lovely setting. Nice hiking trail along the River Salzach from Burghausen to Raitenhaslach. Very good restaurant and beer garden nearby.

Difficult to get to on public transport (we used a cab) this is a beautiful setting, with reportedly good beer garden/guest house. The interior of the church is spectacular, but we were unable to see other interiors also in Baroque style as renovations ongoing (summer 2012).

Make sure to have plenty of time because this one is big! On the compound one can find the monastery, the former Abbeychurch St. George and Pankratius Church, conventbuilding, the Prälatengarden with old vaulted corridor with frescoes, the old watermill, the troutponds (garded by 2 geese), a watertower from the 16th century, former stables, the old brewery.
