Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Saint Bartholomew's Church is beautiful however the downside is the tourism. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of tourists visiting here. To make things worse, the trip back to Königssee entails joining a very long queue to get back onboard the boat. We took nearly 45 minutes but estimated that others will wait longer as the queues seemed to have grown in length by the time we boarded our boat back. Was the boat trip out there worth it. I'd say no. Other churches on our trip were far far more impressive.

Beautiful church (exterior), cos it was closed due to Covid. But Reatuarant was open. The lake trout was tasty but had lots of bones.
My son and I took a hike up to the ice chapel, but couldn't find it. Perhaps it was too foggy. Highly recommended are good walking shoes and walking sticks. Nice scenery!

A must-have place to see. It looks great surrounded by mountains. There's enough space to rest, some restaurants and enough paths to walk. The church's interior itself might not look spectacular however the location, history make it really special place.
As expected, the area is a bit crowded in high season.

St Bartholomew's Church is situated against such an extremely scenic backdrop that we had the impression of being in a dream! When compared with Ramsau church near Hintersee I think St Bartholomew's church has an equal or even more scenic background. We were amazed by how beautiful this part of Bavaria is during autumn!Make sure to check the last boat time before you get off the boat.

The church is very simple but nice. The location of the Koenigsee is absolutely great and the boat trip with the echo demonstration was amazing. Something to do and redo.

Great trip to this quaint little town on the Lake Koningsee. Its beautiful, surrounded by tall snow mountains and a lovely church at the water front! The lake in the water is so clear and blue! Loved it!

A charming pilgrimage church only accessible by boat or hiking trailing to the middle of the lake. Its peaceful, bucolic surroundings give moments to ponder, meditate or pray as you wish. The cliffs along the fjord are breathtaking and will fill up your camera! The restaurant a few meters from the church has a Biergarten and the food is pretty good.

A must visit / do if you are in the area. The ferry ride is for around half an hour, and once you reach you should visit all the trails. The views are breathtaking and the experience is of a different level. Highly recommended.

Although it was raining on the day of our visit, we enjoyed it.
We first bought our tickets for the boat ride on the Königsee to the church from the kiosk. The attendant said that if we hurried, we could catch the next boat out, leaving in one minute. We made it!
The boat was enclosed with plastic drops because of the rain. The whole lake appeared to have a cloud sitting on it.
During our boat ride, the captain stopped the boat very close to the side of the rock face of the mountain. He took a trumpet, and played a German alpine song that echoed back from the mountain.
The church interior was much smaller than it appeared. The exterior is more impressive. I marveled that someone saw this beautiful remote location and came up with this very unusual architecture for a place of Worship.
We ate lunch at the restaurant there. It was an unexpected surprise. The food was great and the service was commendable, considering that so many people were there at one time.
This is one excursion that we need to do again when it’s clear weather.

Beautiful and picturesque boat ride to the middle stop; St. Bartholoma. We ate at the restaurant connected to the church. Just a beautifully grand time at the Konnigsee!!!
