We've been on a "castle tour" in Germany, and this ranks at the top. The English language explanations were helpful (I bought the small guide to accompany the tours, but didn't need it). The displays are very well down, and the staff was friendly. The...More

I decided to walk up to the castle, which was uphill & took about 20 minutes but you can take a "road train" or go by horse & cart. It was worth the exercise & I earned myself a promised beer! You have spectacular views...More

A lovely European medieval castle with a charming courtyard, characters and performers in medieval costumes. Easy to reach by a tourist "train" from the centre of Wernigerode.

Charming setting with a beautiful view. The price, 7 Euros, was appropriate for the visit. If there was a guided tour, we didn’t take it. No pictures are allowed in the building. A cafe is in the castle courtyard though we didn’t avail ourselves of...More

Bit of a steep climb up from the town, so you need to be fit. Even inside the outer wall there's bit more climbing. Circular lay-out means that you walk around and around until you reach the inner wall and the schloss & courtyard itself....More

A nice walk up from the village of Wernigerode you will find this nice old castle with a lot of interesting history and atmosphere. The rooms contains a lot of old furniture and interior. The old knights dinner room is impressive!

Full of history and interesting artifacts, and you get a stunning view of the town, can be accessed by the little tourist road train if you are not up to the steep walk up to the castle.
