A "must see" in Rostock. The astronomical clock is remarkable. Plan to be there at noon for the apostles' procession. Church has some beautiful features.

This is the most famous of Rostock's seven medieval churches, constructed in the 13th century. It has a beautiful massive sanctuary and contains a working astrological clock that is today maintained by the mathematics faculty of the University of Rostock. It was so interesting so...More

Right in the town center, like all other German towns you will find a church, in this case this Marien church. What was unique was inside - a large beam between two pillars supports the large crucifix and four supporting statues. Behind this is an...More

While you are in Rostock, be sure you step into the 770 year old St Marien Church and see the huge and amazing and still working Astronomical Clock built in 1472. The clock computes the dates of Easter up to the year 2017.

The building in itself was worth exploring but what took our breath away was the huge Astronomical clock which dates back to the 15th century. Our guide was excellent in pointing out all the features of this masterpiece and to refresh our memory we bought...More

This old church is slowly being restored. It contained a centuries old clock that chimes regularly and runs perfectly. The entire structure dates from the Middle Ages and has some very interesting burials that are centuries old. At noon every day, there is a brief...More
