Another Great German Castle located in a wonderful setting---above the quaint city of Cochem and alongside the Moselle River. It is filled with historical art & artifacts and well-worth the tour. Be aware that parking availability near the castle is scarce so plan an early...More

Cochem castle was erected around 1120 and slighted by the French army in 1689. The ruin was purchased by wealthy merchant Jakob Louis Ravené who rebuilt the fortress in neo gothic style respecting the original layout between 1868 and 1877. The elevated position of Cochem...More

Beautiful castle! Worth the trip however be aware you can’t look at on your own. A tour is required and we didn’t see any in English. They do give you a printed sheet in English. Nice territorial view of the city and river.

If you can do Burg Eltz and Cochem, that's a big win, but if you had to pick, I would chose Cochem. First, the location on the Moselle river is beautiful. Second, the interior was way more impressive. This castle is fully restored which is...More

FIrst, my group did not take a tour, so our exploration only got as far as the inner gate. That being said it was still worth the trip up the hill even in the rain. Looking up from the town you're impressed with the castle,...More

Worth getting the mini bus up to the castle for great views. Tours in English twice a day, so check for timings.

There is a small touristic train that goes up the hill during the high (summer) season. It goes every hour. Departure is in city center (you cannot miss it).
