Well worth the visit

Enjoyed this tour. It was a wonderful glimpse of history and not excessively long. Would do this again.

Picturesque place in the winter. Snow falling, Castle on the hill, frozen river. It's really lovely on the winter. I can imagine very busy in summer. Not much to do here but nice 3 hours to spend wandering and eating a great schnitzel!!

The castle is located on top of a hill and when you reach there ,you can see Moselle river. You might have to walk uphill to reach the castle . The ticket is 6 Euro for adults with guided tour. But we had to wait for other people to gather around and then they opened the door. Overall it was... More

It's a steep paved walk up to the castle but it is very enjoyable with wineries dotted along the way. Cochem is remarkably beautiful and the walk up to the castle is a highlight. The guided tour purchased via the castle gift shop was great. The tour guide gave the information in German and then in some English for our... More

We went to Cochem for the sole purpose of going to the castle and maybe take the chair lift up to the park/zoo. Sadly everything was only open until 5pm (we went on a Sunday) so we decided to go to the castle for the guided tour and then enjoy walking around downtown and by the river. We took the... More

Medieval and gothic. Do a walking tour - the 1 pm not the 11 am (at its only in German) so you can learn about the history.

This castle was fully restored between 1868 - 1879 as a family home and your tour takes you through 7 of the 50 rooms. From the detailed word work of the furniture to the delft tile fireplaces you get a real feel for the craftsmanship of the period. The sweeping view of the bend in the river from the armory... More

This tour worthy of you to add to your itinerary. You feel the other side of life as it was. While on our tour we could see a scaffold-ed room being re-detailing. Right down to painters and craftspeople on their knees proudly bringing out the beautiful ceiling and walled artistry from this building's past. You can sense life from eons... More

It is a hard steep climb to get up to this castle, which has a chequered history but the views over the Moselle were spectacular. There was a very hard frost the day we visited and all the surrounding area was white with hoar frost. The castle itself is beautifully restored and well worth a visit apart from its spectacular...
