The staff showed me around the place. I had the chance to bathe one of the elephants. The elephant appeared tamed and enjoyed the bath as I rubbed a small portion of a coconut husk on his side. I rode Rani, the elephant for a short distance and later more pictures were taken of me and Rani as I pet... More

2000 Rs entry fee includes the option to wash and ride an elephant. My wife did both - enjoying the fun bit of being splashed with a trunkful of water also when riding! Plenty of explanation about the elephant and how they are cared for. Both of us rode around a bit, then fed a few crackers/vitamin ball. Then a... More

This was a great opportunity to do a family friendly activity. You are taken on a tour by a tour guide with outstanding knowledge about Asian Elephants. They have several elephants that you can take a ride with, you can bathe the elephants, you can feed the elephants. All proceeds go to the humane treatment and up keep of the... More

We had a quick visit on way from Kandy back to Negombo. After reading a lot of negative reviews I wasn't sure what to expect but apart from the elephant rides was pleasantly surprised. It is only small & were only a handful of visitors. We were never harassed to give a tip. We fed an elephant t which was... More

Being an animal lover myself I wasn't keen on going here as I thought I knew what to expect. To set a couple of things straight we were told it was 1000 LKR pp to just go in and look and 2000 LKR pp to have a ride / bath, we only paid 1000 LKR as we knew we didn't... More

We didn't know whether to go to here or the orphanage but we decided here as the children would be able to bath an elephant. I had reservations about going to both places and I wish we hadn't gone. The elephants are chained which I did expect. There are different packages thst you can buy that include the bath and... More

Firstly elephants need exercise and love bathing, so why not pay for these wonderful animals to be cared for, and have a little exercise whilst creating a life time memory. When will i ever get a chance to ride and bath an elephant again... so my little message to all who complain about a These animals being 'kept' ... dont... More

I recently visited M.E.F and I was thoroughly impressed by not only the staff working with the elephants and there knowledge, but also the volunteers and the owner of the home where I stayed over night. I was treated to a fantastic time with one of the elephants when we walked around the site for between 40 minutes and an... More
