I've been swimming twice a week in Leybourne Lakes throughout the Covid-19 summer from the first week Will and Steve opened the lake back up to currently. It's been fabulous, there's nothing better than setting off around the perimeter of the lake in the sunshine, seeing fish swimming in the shallows and herons sunbathing on branches over the water. The Covid-19 regulations mean you have to book in advance for an hours swim but this isn't a problem, there are possibly slightly fewer people in the lake at any one time which means you get to enjoy some peace and tranquillity as you swim. Some days it's as smooth as a mill pond with few waves whereas other days in the wind it can get a real swell at the far end as the water gets some energy making it much more challenging to swim. I can't recommend it enough - swimming this summer has saved me from a world that is going mad outside and sitting all day in my house working from home. Thank you to all at LLWC for making things safe for us to swim again.

Started to swim here as can’t get to the local swimming pool. Very friendly staff and helpful had to do a induction lesson £30:00 for two years. Then £6:00 per booking there after you will need to wear a swimming hat and a tow float so you can be seen a wetsuit is not compulsory but can help keep you warm.

I am so glad that through all the indoor pools being shut this led me to discover opening water swimming at Leybourne Lake Watersports Centre. Coming here has really made my summer, the lake is so clear, not crowded and you can often manage without a thick wetsuit. Booking is easy as was setting up an induction. Straight away you are welcomed and looked after. The team somehow seem to remember your name from the word go and are always pleasant and friendly despite sometimes trying to manage lots of bookings. Thank you for all your work during this difficult time to enable so many to enjoy the outdoors and exercise!

Due to current restrictions you now have to book a time slot, which if you’re taking your own equipment is £8 for 2.5 hours. You can book and pay in advance online. Once on site there was plenty of parking available. There are barriers to help the flow of people and social distancing. The dock area is way too small, so you can have quite a wait to get in or out of the lake if there are other people there. This also isn’t helped by the amount of paddleboards tied up at the dock area. The lake itself is a good size, and we enjoyed our time there. It’s handy having a choice of lakes local to us, and we will visit again.

Really love this place. Always friendly staff, nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The setting is amazing, so peaceful to paddleboard on a warm summer's evening, the water is always lovely and warm too. Reasonable rates and time slots compared to other local sites and a little less restricted too, after all, you want to have fun, not just be the subject of a health and safety assessment. My only criticism would be the number of free loaders who plague the site. We've recently seen paddle boarders and kayaks as well as the numerous swimmers just plop into the lake at other entrances and enjoy the site without paying, which is a slap in the face for those of us who do.
