We stopped here to ask questions about beach access, but in the process, we discovered the centre also has a small museum and wildlife viewing area, which are worth visiting on their own merits. The friendly attendant answered our questions and provided us with a...More

We are reviewing all tripadviser locations visited, as a couple, in our campervan on both N and S Islands, (four weeks in Sep/Oct 2018). As Aussies, we loved New Zealand and its people! Good or otherwise, any feedback helps those venues and fellow travellers alike!...More

Stopped by here on the way to Jackson’s Bay and were pleased we did. Very informative center, well laid out and plenty of wonderful displays. Would visit again and wished we had more time to take it all in.

Travelling up the west side of the South Island, this is a great little stop. Find out everything about whitebait and about the area around Haast Pass in about 20 minutes.

Absolutely marvelous information center, lots of information, very helpful staff, two outside pools, lots of exhibits about the area, natural history, geological displays, souvenirs to buy. This is a huge complex with elegant design and user friendly.

This would be one of the best and most informative Visitors/Interpretive Centres we have ever visited. The setting is beautiful, the exhibits are informative and often humorous and we learned so much about the area. Definitely stop by on your way to the Glaciers.

A great place to visit. As usual, help was there in bucket loads, a nice gift shop and an interesting display about the geology of the place. The building is interesting architecturally too.
