Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you are in Zurich with an afternoon to spare, I would recommend a trip to Rapperswil on the upper end of the Zurichsee. It is just a 45 minute train ride on the S7 train from the Zurich Train Station. The heart of Old Town is located just across the street from the Rapperswil station.
As you exit the station, the Information Office is to your left. The courteous staff can provide you with a map and directions to the points of interest in the Old Town. The town dates from the 1200 hundreds. You can stroll the promenade next to the lake and also enjoy the narrow streets of the Old Town. The shops are a delight. You sit outside at one of the many cafes and enjoy some refreshment and the sights.
There are rose gardens scattered around the town. In one, the roses were selected for their color. In another, as an aid for the sight impaired, the roses were chosen for their fragrance. A visit to the Polish Museum is worth your time. It is located in Schloss Rapperswil and admission is free with the Swiss Pass.
The return to Zurich can be on either the S7 train or, if you have time, by the paddle wheel steamer that operates in season on the Zurichsee. Both are covered by the Swiss Pass.

Rapperswil is a beautiful medieval town at the south end of lake Zurich. a boat trip is a must, once you are there climb up to the castle - the view is something else. we enjoyed just sitting on a bench in the small harbour watching the boats go by with a sanswitch.

Lovely place to spend a couple of hours, especially in nice weather. Schloss Rapperswil, and Raperswil in general are not exactly exciting tourist attractions and paying the entry fee is probably not really worth it. What is worth it are the views to the distant Alps, the (closer) views of Lake Zurich, the deer park and the castle.
This isn't exiting stuff, but on a glorious autumn day its a very pleasant place to be!

Schloss Rapperswil really took us by surprise. Its not even an hour from Zurich by bus and it can be reached also by boat and train and it would be an absolute shame not to check this town out when in Zurich.
The weather really added to the beautiful scenery at hand and we had the advantage of having a fantastic tour guide that gave an excellent account of the history of this beautiful town. The view of Lake Zurich alone is worth the visit and there are a variety of cafes and restaurants to choose from by the Waterfront and the Rose Garden had been in full bloom too which obviously was pleasing to the eye.
The Murals also explain a fascinating account of historic events and the area has a monastery at hand and there are vineyards in the vicinity also.
In a nutshell, If in Zurich then make the trip here. It will definitely be worth it

Worth the visit, deer park near by, interesting, and very dramatic. I enjoy the old town around the castle and a good view of Lake Zurich.

The castle itself is small but quite stunning. However, the views overlooking the lake and surrounding landscape are unbeatable.

It was worthwhile to walk up to the Rapperswil Castle. You will see old houses and architectures during your walk way. The view on the top was amazing!

The castle is the first thing you see when approaching Rapperswil by car over the bridge. Even if you don't go into the castle - from the hill you can enjoy nice views over the roof-tops of the old town, the lake and views to the mountains.

A beautiful spot to walk around, and enjoy this historic site along the lake. Overlook the rooftops of the local town and see the deer that live on the property.

Are the grounds around Schloss Rapperswil pram friendly?
Written 12 May 2017
Yes in the main square they are pretty ok... In the docks where the boats are... they are cobbled so it might be a problem with a pram...
