We spent just over 3 hours at the Sanctuary which, when we visited, was FAR too long (but we couldn't truncate because of the train timetable). The weather was wet and the visibility poor so we couldn't go for much of a walk - and, internally, the buildings have little to offer. We did enjoy a nice lunch in the... More

I came here on a day trip from Barcelona. You can buy the package at vending machines in Placa de Catalunya - little more than 30 euro, which includes round trip train ticket between Barcelona and Ribes de Freser, and round trip on the rack train between Ribes de Freser and Vall de Nuria. Originally I planned to hike from... More

The only way to get to Vall de Nuria is though the tren cremallera. The fact that no cars are allowed and you climb 2000mts by train makes it a special place. Great place to sled and hike in winter.

The best thing about this hotel is the fabulous train journey up from Ribes- beautiful! The hotel itself is basic, but clean. Rooms are comfortable and adequate. Service is a little slow but ok. The food lets the hotel down I think as it is buffet for breakfast and dinner and the food is like warm- it would have been... More

We visited Vall de Nuria in early October for a day of hiking. The weather was a bit grey with a little bit of rain, but it was still a beautiful location, and I would highly recommend it. The trail signage is not very good, and the maps were pretty useless, but we were still able to find our way.... More

A great place for a visit. taking the mountain train with the kid was a beautiful ride. there are many hiking trails and also activities for kids. Even just relaxing in front of the beautiful lake and mountains on a sunny day worth the visit.

The train ride from Barcelona Sants to Ribes des Freser alone was beautiful and then you arrive at Vall de Nuria and it is even more stunning. There are great hikes with beautiful views and some animals along the way. It is suitable for all ages and worth a visit.
