An amazing 12th century medieval castle close by to Pontevedra, Spain. We brought a picnic lunch to eat on the grounds and had the place almost entirely to ourselves. The kids had a blast exploring everything from the dungeon in the basement to the crumbling walls they thought held treasures surrounding the castle. Behind the castle is a small playground... More

We travelled to the Castle the short way up very steeps roads (the return road was easier!). Parking was good and only a short walk to the Castle next to the Castle Café. Entry to the beautiful gardens was free (with our dog) and walking around the castle was a delight. Well restored and majestic. Entry was a bargain 2... More

Having traveled from vigo by bus we arrived at the village only to find we had a two kilometer uphill walk to the castle. Well worth the effort. The castle is restored to a high standard, the display of pictures and artifacts very good, descriptions only Spanish/Galician so take a phrase book!! The garden was pretty but as the Camelias had... At only 2 Euro it is good value - with lovely views. The gardens (which are free) contain an extensive selection of camelias and other trees.

Well worth the trip. Castle car park is not via the entrance to the adjoining hotel but further on in an unmarked car park with steps leading up to the castle via a very nice café with excellent facilities. Castle and gardens with wonderful surrounding views well worth the 2 euro entrance fee.

This medieval fortress was built on a hill with a nice view around and was rebuilt into a nice castle with a large botanic garden. The castle is in a great condition and for 2 euros, it is possible to visit some rooms inside including the main tower.

it is typical for events, weddings and gatherings as it can host several hundred people. Located on top of a hill, this old fortress is worth to visit and great to organize event there
