Hoghton Tower is one of Lancashire’s gems – come and find out why. A Tudor – Elizabethan manor and the ancestral home of the de Hoghton family, the Tower stands proudly on its hill overlooking the surrounding countryside. Join a guided tour of the panelled state rooms to hear about the history of the house, the family and the distinguished guests who have enjoyed the house over the centuries. Stroll through the beautiful walled gardens and take in the views. Kids will love the underground passages, the ramparts, dungeons and Dolls House collection. Take a browse in the gift shop and finish your day out in the tea room. Private and School tours available year round with prior arrangement. On the third Sunday of each month, come to our Farmers Market – ‘The Merchant of Hoghton’- a celebration of regional produce. Hoghton Tower can be hired on an exclusive basis for your private pary or wedding. Stay overnight in the Irishman's Tower. All income from tours benefits the Hoghton Tower Preservation Trust – preserving heritage for all.

The guides Debbie and Les were very good at telling us facts. The tunnels were really creepy, especially Jimmy. Jack aged 9

Wow! We live 10 minutes drive from here and had never visited and had driven past hundreds of times! What had we been missing! An amazing 16th century house with lots of original decorations and furniture and a great, detailed guided tour. We thoroughly enjoyed this and learnt some new facts that we had never come across before. Guided tours... More

Nestled between preston, blackburn and darwen is hoghton tower , not really your average stately home but every bit a quirky inhabited home. First thing to say here is don't take the cheap option which is to acess the gardens for £.2.20 they are hardly worth it (obviously the owners that have lived here in the past were not real... More

Access to the House is by way of a guided tour only and with the last one at 3.30pm it's wise to plan ahead; unfortunately I arrived 10 minutes later so my visit was confined to the Gardens and parkland only. There wasn't a separate charge for Garden visits only as the £10 admission charge covers both a house tour... More

Visited Hoghton Tower a number of times in the last year. Wonderful building with a long and interesting history! Have to take a guided tour to see the inside of the house but well worth it - the guides are friendly and knowledgeable! The theatre groups in the garden are also well worth looking out for (weather permitting).

We've been coming here for the past few years to see father christmas. The whole setting where father christmas is is so magical with the big fireplace. It doesn't feel rushed when the kids are chatting to father christmas. Father Christmas is £5 which includes one adult with the child and an extra £2.50 for another adult. The car park... More

We attended this winter event and would recommend it. We were welcomed by an excellent glass of mulled wine and log fire in the Tea Room before being taken into the ground floor rooms which were candlelit and historically decorated. In every room were costumed characters telling of Christmas in every age of the building's life. From the Tudos to... More

Visit here for 3rd Sunday of the month for farmers' market. Wide variety of stalls. Always busy, get there mid morning at the latest to ensure the stalls are stocked. £1 entrance fee for the car park. The cafe is uninspiring so feast yourself on the samples readily available from the stalls. Other events are interesting here especially the summer... More

My husband and I visited the Craft Fair, which was very nice. We then went to the cafe and it was like a scene from Faulty Towers. As it was very busy we shared a table with 2 other nice ladies who had already ordered their lunch. As we were looking at the menu a server came and told one... More

We are very sorry to hear about your experience on the day.Clearly it was not up to scratch and certainly not what we would want you to take away as a memory of the tea room. We apologise. We are working hard to make the experience in the tea room a better one and clearly it did not work on... More

Awful £4 each and there was only a handful of stalls. Could not enter any of the tower. Tea room smelt bad so didn't have a drink in there. Meat and beer festival had a handful of stalls, there was a beer tent that had present staff. Not worth the trip and was very disappointed. Won't be back again.

Management response:

We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your trip and thank you for your feedback as all is useful as part of our ongoing review of events. The festival was designed to be more of an experience day for people to come along and eat and drink on site rather than just a market to buy produce at.... More
