Despite this wonderfully scenic place provising one of the best views of the City and surrounds, the local shire have decided to close it to traffic because of a couple of hoons and possible campers.

They have managed to remove a fantastic tourist attraction to saitisfy a very small hndful of nearby residents - appease the minority as against please the majority.

This is so shamefule it is beyond accurate description.

Came here as the road was supposed to close for 6 months. We really enjoyed the short drive and especially the lovely views of Perth. I believe the road is still open for walking and bicycling, just not for cars till the end of the year. You can find the Stathams Quarry here with its blue tree.
Have to come back to watch a sunset.

Horrible that it's closed.....
For the people sitting in their mansions on the hill, sorry you hated the hooners...so did everyone else that has the right to enjoy the view and walk amongst the tree's.
We have every right to experience that area. You did not purchase millions of aches,
I live in south perth but the river, i dont get to block millpoint road!
Make the roads more suitable with perhaps more frequent speed bumps to keep people going slow!
Qnd open it back up to the community.
Disgraceful.
Shouldn't be something kept from Australians.

I was taken here many years ago when i first came to Perth, today i took a friend of mine that hasn't been here before. We took our cameras and enjoyed taking pictures of the Perth skyline.

Then slowly zig zagged down the track back to the main road. Being winter you can see a few native flowers come out, but i know spring this place just blooms with natives. So its a must visit as the season changes.

Its a lovely little drive that really gives you a chance to see so much of Perth.
Worth a visit.

Directions: traveling along Kalamunda road, towards Kalamunda, turn left onto Gooseberry Hill Road, follow this winding road all the way to the end, this will take you through two roundabouts as you climb this hill, then turn left again onto Williams Street.

Williams street will change into Lascelles parade as it twists its way around to the zig zag scenic drive. You have a few places to stop and take photos, even long the one lane track there are spots to pull over.
At the end of the Scenic drive, you come to a T intersection, this is Ridge Hill Road, turn left again and follow this road to the end, then left again onto Midland road, which takes you back to Kalamunda Road.

Great road to drive down after a visit to Kalamunda.
The views across to Perth are amazing. And it’s a special place to watch the sunset

The Kalamunda Zig Zags is one of the best places to see the Perth city lights. While Kings Park is great for the close up view of the Perth CBD, the Zig Zags provides a 180 degree view of the sprawling city of Perth including the CBD, airport and distant suburbs.
During the day it is a great place to spot the cranes in Fremantle, the highrises in Scarborough and make various other buildings in Perth.
At night it is a great way to see the city lights, the airport and just how far Perth city stretches. For maximum viewing pleasure, go when there is no high cloud or haze about the hills.
The zig zags is a one way street with hair-pin corners and steep banks to one side so make sure you drive slowly and stop along the side of the road in a car bay to take in the view, rather than trying to drive and look at the same time.

Followed google maps to get there, the council’s actual location is a bitumen car park, and it’s a crap view. the public have made better stops/choices, there’s odd cars parked randomly along the way.....don’t pay too much attention to them....you may see something you can’t unsee 😉🥰 remember, we were all young once 😂😂🤦‍♀️. So make sure you keep driving past the car park and you’ll come to the actual ZigZag road and see some amazing views of Perth and the greater city. Personally I thought it was worth it!! Can do it in a normal car or bike or whatever

Being a local I come here often and it is a great place to just sit and think about lives big questions. You can get a good view of Perth metro area as well as a good view of the sunset. This place is very popular, so parking is short at times however, there are dedicated parking areas for bush walking, etc. There is a small problem with the amount of rubbish left behind by people enjoying the views, which is disheartening considering there are kangaroos that live in the srubby area around the zig zag. However if your willing to put aside the rubbish the place is a must see destination. I dare say it is a better view than the famous Kings Park.

There are many lay bys to pull into with spectacular views of Perth city. I sat in my car and enjoyed painting it. The road has some hair pin bends but easy to negotiate as it is a one way system. I have 1 criticism. There is no signpost at the T junction at the end of the zigzag road. I was a stranger and turned right when I should have turned left and went a long way in the wrong direction.
