Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This beautifully decorated temple is situated on a large natural and tranquil garden, within walking distance from Trou aux biches. The peaceful surrounding is ideal for meditation. The temple is old with an amazing history. A good place to make offerings and say prayers.

We’ve spent a nice time there.

This temple is verry special. People are praying. Serene place. Old complex. There is an unofficial guide who is showing you around. Up to you, you can decide what you want. Very silent place good for Meditation. Holy tree is special. Enjoy your time overhere. Easy to reach from Trou au Biches

Temple appears quite colourful from the outside but it is in urgent need of maintenance and needs a good clean out. A place of worship should have a fresh feel to it. We entered the main temple and expected the priest to be in attendance. Instead a couple of local guys were seen performing their own prayers. We asked if there was a priest around and they pointed to the adjoining house and said that we'd find him there, meaning that he was resting. We looked around the temple and were really disappointed to see that it probably wasn't swept for ages. The floor, the walls the windows all needed attention. Even the grounds were not clean. We lighted a diya (candle) and some incense which we had taken along with us and left the premises. It's such a shame that the temple is being neglected, which otherwise would be a very inviting place.

As with many of the attractions in Mauritius, reviews are also available under different names. In the case of this Temple, also check out the reviews under Maheshwarnath Tempel ( with this spelling of temple). If you are on the North West coast, your trip to Mauritius would not be complete without a trip to the oldest Hundu Temple on the island. While it is not as large as the the temple at Grand Basin, it is special in its own right and far more personal. We were guided ( by pre arrangement ) by the temple priest, which added to to the visit. We also received a blessing ( entirely optional ) from the priest at the end of the visit in one of the side temples. The blessing is universal and regardless of any religious beliefs that one may have. No " donations " are required but there are donation boxes spread throughout the complex.
