Overview
More
The George Tindale Memorial Garden garden contains a number of plants rarely found in cultivation, which are thriving in the acidic soils, cool temperate climate and shaded conditions found in the Dandenong Ranges. Extensive collections of magnolias, rhododendrons, camellias, azaleas, fuchsias and hydrangeas will delight garden enthusiasts. The garden is a reflection of George and Ruth Tindale’s vision of having a garden displaying something of interest all year round – offering something new with each season – a myriad of flowers in spring; hydrangeas, lilliums and fuchsias in summer; a canopy of gold, red, orange and burgundy in Autumn and the flowers of the Lenten Rose or Hellebore beneath flowering shrubs in winter. There are many areas that may be of interest to you; the nationally registered hydrangea collection, the sculptures on permanent display and the mature canopy of trees.

This is a beautiful small garden that is out of the way but a pleasant walk. It has a large bolder that will turn on its axis if you push it. Great for the family.

Wonderful history of this place with outstanding efforts of volunteers to keep it going. Some spectacular examples of hydrangea's and a bonus to see some lyre birds wandering around. The kids loved the maze of paths to explore

Just down the road from Alfred Nicholas Gardens is this gem of a spot to bring the family for a picnic. Never seems to be as busy as it’s neighbour but it’s worth checking out. I always visit as well as Alfred Nicholas

If you enjoy a nice quiet walk amongst a wide variety of beautiful flowers, definitely give these gardens a visit. My wife and I visited a couple friends in the Melbourne area, and they took us here one of the days. It did not disappoint,...More

This garden is badly in need of some maintenance. We didn't bother seeing the whole garden because the paths were quite slippery with moss. We visited in early November and we had missed the best of the rhododendron colours and weren't keen to brave the...More

Well maintained and beautiful flowers. It's a lovely little place for a stroll. A bit hilly, but manageable even with our 5 year-old walking alongside.

There are numerous pathways that meander throughout these lovely gardens that can be taken to enjoy the mass plantings of this cool climate hills garden. A visit in Winter will not disappoint, as there are plenty of flowering plants to enjoy. I was particularly taken...More

Short distance from Alfred Nicholas gardens - so do a combo. Beautifully laid out on a declining hill (from entrance) with masses of azaleas, hydrangeas, rhododendrons. fushcias & many more. Well tended to by volunteers in a more formal layout, much smaller than Alfred Nicholas....More

This garden has pleasant walking, though I find the tree cover somewhat enclosed and claustrophobic. There are a large variety of trees lining the paths, and it can have spectacular colours in autumn. It is fairly close to Alfred Nicholas, so I would recommend visiting...More
