When I first saw the outside of the Delos Archaeological Museum my heart sank. It was all too familiar a site across greece - a bit like the old Arcropolis Museum in Athens which housed outstanding works which were badly displayed, lacked interpretation and the building itself was not worthy of hosting such artefacts. Well I would say the same... More

Some of the most valuable treasures of Delos are in this museum. And it is a marvel seeing them and touching them! Yet, it is also a pity that the museum does not appear to be well-funded. There are no protective casings for the valuable artifacts displayed in this museum. Tourists tend to touch pieces of history, which should not... More

As you walk in the self tour in Delos, in many parts it says that the 'original' is in the museum. So i was waiting for a great museum. But is little, not really well preserved, needind a little cleaning... And there were a lot of statues and part of them, but no explanation at all... not brochures either. I... More

Since the entire day on this island is an unforgettable experience, it does not surprise me that they'd also have a lovely little museum to help 'fill in the blanks'. Enjoy your day; arrive early, leave late ... but don't miss the ferry out!

The museum is not very large but expect to be there about half an hour. By the treasury of the Naxiasns stands the base and the remains of the great colossal statue of Apollo. Interesting that the original marble Lions are now placed in the museum and those on site are copies. Other exhibits of the museum are world-known delian... More

To be honest, we came to the museum at the beginning of our day because I needed to use the restrooms and the museum is the only location for these facilities apart from near the entrance gate (which was ridiculously overcrowded). The museum however is necessary to complete your day at Delos. It contains the originals of some of the... More

It won't take you long to tour this museum, but it's worth your time. The museum houses many of the original items from the island's ruins. Many of the statues and mosaics among the ruins are recreations, such as the lions, with the originals held here. So, take a few moments and stop in. You won't regret it.
