We have been visiting this cafe for over 10 years now and have loved it because of the beautiful location, food and atmosphere. However I think we are done now, the price of the car park has gone through the roof, the food borders on...More

Took 3 granddaughters for day out, went on the gruffalo trail , downloaded the app much better, quite a big playground area, inclined to be muddy, the cafe very overpriced, pay for parking at the machine before leaving.

Worth a visit for the play trail and the scenery, but don't make a special trip just to do the Gruffalo trail. Cafe: food was good, the salad accompanying most meals was much more interesting than the usual lettuce/tomato/cucumber and showed that some thought had...More

We'll be staying in Keswick and are looking for challenging walks in the area; as we're from the US we'll not have a car, not wanting to try L side driving. Will it be difficult to find a bus or other transportation to the forest?

We had a car, but I am confident that Whinlatter will be on a bus route from Keswick centre. A taxi will take you, but would be costly as it would either have to wait or make a second trip to collect you. The beauty was the... More
