Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a beautiful natural area that extends over 70,000 hectares and includes mountainous stretches, valleys, walking trails and unique features like Lake Fiastra and the flower fields of the Piana Grande flower fields of Castelluccio di Norcia.
It is off the beaten track for most tourists but for those who have the time to explore the more remote countryside, this is a very beautiful part of Italy.
We had two great outings to the national park during our stay in the Marche region.
One, was Lake Fiastra. The drive through the mountains down to the valley was very scenic and once there, we spent the day swimming and relaxing on the grassy slopes beside the lake and we walked around to the Fiastra Dam wall.
We also drove to see La Fiorita, the amazing transformation of the Castelluccio di Norcia mountain-top plains into a magical, colourful carpet of wildflowers. In photographs we’d seen, it looked stunning - Monet-like fields of colour.
Disappointingly, we didn’t get the timing right and the wild flowers were not yet in bloom. It’s a long drive so I’d recommend checking before you go, if you can. Having said that, the scenery was still stunning and it is a very beautiful part of Italy. The 2016 earthquakes wreaked havoc here but it is an area of great natural beauty.

The Sibillini National Park is such a beautiful area, extending over 70,000 hectares and including mountain ranges, valleys, lakes, hiking trails, medieval hill top towns, and unique features like the flower fields of Castelluccio di Norcia.
It is off the beaten track for most tourists but for those who have the time to explore the more remote countryside, this is a very beautiful part of Italy.
During our most recent stay in the Marche region, we had an incredible day, hiking in the Sibillini mountain range.
Starting at Montemonaco, we caught a small shuttle bus to the Rifugio Sibillini where we started our hike up to the peak of Monte Sibilla. This isn’t the tallest mountain in the range (although it stands at 2,173 metres so its no shrinking violet either), but it is steeped in legend of Sibilla, queen of a mythical, underground kingdom, and her fairies.
The scenery was breathtaking the entire way, with plunging valleys, green peaks, and beautiful wildflowers. Often, we stopped just to take it all in and to marvel in quiet appreciation at how stunning it all was. At times, we were surrounded by a beautiful stillness as we walked and at other times the silence would be broken by the tinkle of bells and we’d see a flock of sheep being shepherded across the distant slopes. It was a magical day.
Overall, a very special part of Italy.

Wildlife, wilderness, legends and medieval villages. Wonderful experience. Shame the lack of adequate tourist accommodation. The organization needs to be improved.

15 days spent walking and exploring the Park were wonderful.
It is largely unspoilt with lots of great hospitality at family run stopping points along the route. Tasty regional food (especially truffles, mushrooms and lentils). Castellucio is a well known and special place but there are many other highlights - including some of the first rate agriturismos and rifugios to stay at and use as a base. In good weather well worth exploring the Mountains - Sibilla, Vettore, Redentore and points in between.
The Grande Anello is a fabulous and well waymarked route - the only negative was lack of reliable accommodation at certain points in the route (especially near Balzo!) - places that call themselves "refuges" really should be just that!

Amazing views and fabulous hiking.
During summer months, it can be 40c in Sarnano and 15 C on the mountain. Be prepared from temp differential.

During our 6 day holiday in the national park, I had wished I had more eyes to look around and enjoy these majestic mountains. The views are really spectacular and the landscape and vegetation changes every 5 minutes. I found the park very well maintained and curated: there are many signs that indicate all of its churches, abbies and natural attractions. There are many hiking trails for different level hikers, all well indicated as well. The park is generally quiet and very clean. It was my first stay in these mountains, but I was planning my next stay already on my way back home.

My father was born here and I have spent many summer holidays among these peaks. Nevertheless the beauty of these places never stop surprising me. Every time I go back I discover new reasons to visit again and to spend some time walking on these mountains, where you can feel the power of nature and don't see any human trace for kilometers.

Everybody knows about the natural beauty of the Sibillini, the intoxicatingly pure air, the food (the best lamb in Italy…) and the wonderful walks. There are other possibilities too though. If you are interested in, say, bird- or animal-watching, rock-climbing, geology, riding, history, or rare wild flowers in the park, contact the park authorities, who have masses of useful information to help make your visit a success, can offer all sorts of advice (on, say, what would be suitable for a visitor with limited mobility), and have enthusiastic, knowledgeable and well-trained young guides - each with his or her own speciality.

We did 2 day trips into the national park from our friend's house in Rubianello. It's about an hour from the coast to the national park and there are books and maps available with recommended day walks. Having just spent 2 weeks hiking in Chile and Argentina, this compares favourably, with stunning landscapes, challenging day hikes and very temperamental weather - especially the wind. Beautiful and near-deserted in winter. Highly recommended. Only critique is that because it's empty in winter, most of the nearby small hilltop towns, which are beautiful in their own way, have closed up all their restaurants and you need to go into the larger towns to find something open to get food... but don't let that put you off going. It's a stunning place to visit. I'd love to return to to do the full 8-day walk.
