About
Honeymoon Bay is a great picnic and snorkelling spot on Beecroft Peninsula. The Beecroft Peninsula is Navy land and is only open to the public on weekends and public holidays. You can get a bite to eat or stay the night in the nearby town of Currarong, or camp at the bay its self.

Went down Mid week and was open to the public quiet bathing and calm water... so friendly for our 3 girls 7 and under. Visited the lighthouse at perpendicular point also. Highly recommended for the family. Long way out of the way take a picnic!

Camping is available through DER 02 44483411. Secluded pristine area. Be warned though access States all vehicles but the road from the entry gate is rippled, we found it near impossible in a motor home. Day visits allowed, you need ID as it is defence land. Well worth a visit if you are on the NSW South Coast. Bush walking, rock climbing and nature area. Beautiful area. Camping as of January 2015 was 15.00 per night. Free to day visit.

Spent the weekend camping by Honeymoon bay on the Beecroft weapons range.
The price was $15 per night for a site for 2, with an additional $5 for each additional person. We had a group of 9 and the personnel manning the front desk were very accomodating finding us a lovely site big enough to suit our group.
Pro tip: Make sure you carry cash on you because the front desk doesn't take card!
We arrived just after 12 and had to go get cash down at the local shops. When we arrived back t around 2pm groups in front of us were turned away as the grounds were at capacity. Definitely arrive early as its first come first served!
Pro tip: You can arrive at any time on Friday and must be gone by 8:30pm on Sunday. The grounds are only open over the weekend.
The bay was beautiful and protected. The water is perfect for small children or adults as the water gets deep the further into the bay you head. We took a near by bush walk to Silica Cove on Sunday morning and this was even more beautiful if possible. Very serene with only one other group using the beach. There's also a ship wreck on the rocks which is interesting to have a look at.
The only downside was that you can't have a fire so we made do with marshmallows roasted over a camping stove but the nights were so warm that if you bought lights you really didn't need a fire.
Would definitely recommend heading down. Everyone was friendly, grounds had a good vibe and the facilities that were there were clean and well maintained.

We were really looking forward to spending a day at Honeymoon Bay. However, to our disappointment, the entry route was closed on the week we were visiting, due to the Beecroft Weapons Range. Frustratingly, there was no prior signage about this until we got to Lighthouse Road. Make sure to check the Weapons Range operating times online before you visit! We ended up at Callala beach instead for the day, which is a great little back up option.

Travelled to Honeymoon bay for a day of snorkelling and relaxing, however on arrival to the national park we had a 45 min wait to gain access. I understand around the Xmas holiday period it may get busy but this was a little frustrating. Finding the bay was simple and the walk easy.
The bay itself was very busy and the photos which we checked out online actually didn't represent the location that well at all. It wasn't that clean and we left feeling let down.
On a side note I would be wary of taking my children as we were surrounded by a few groups of people who were clearly drunk and a bit disrespectful with foul language.

Bush camp sites surround the bay and most are separated off from each other by some trees and bushes so you can have privacy and enjoy the natural setting. This is Australian Defense Force land which is managed a little differently than National Parks. There were security cars moving through the camp ground several times during the day and night which makes it a safe and orderly camping ground. Lots of clean port-a-loos were available rather than pit toilets. There is no running water at the camp ground or bay but you can fill up water tanks at the park entrance, 10km back toward Currarong.
Please note that if you are a day visitor, you must park outside the camp ground and walk about one hundred metres to the beach. The beach is very popular with day trippers and those people who break that rule by driving into the camp ground to drop off lots of beach gear at the start of the path down onto the beach, turn the camp ground into a parking lot. As campers, we grew tired of people parking right in front of our tent for 10 minutes at a time to do drop offs and pick ups. For each visitor it is only 2 short stops but if 10 families do it, the camp ground is an endless procession of constantly parking vehicles. Given that it would be unacceptable for 20 cars to park for 10 minutes each on the front lawn of a rented holiday accommodation, please don't think because the accommodation is a tent in a camp ground that it is somehow ok.
Other restrictions are that you cannot hang a hammock or solar shower. The rangers visiting insisted that such activities could damage a tree (ironic since the ADF uses the rest of the park as a firing range, firing at targets from ships offshore to calibrate their weapons). Camp fires are also forbidden; you can only use gas or liquid fuel stoves which left us a bit cold in the evenings.
The snorkeling in the bay is wonderful so bring a good wetsuit and your goggles, snorkel and flippers. If you visit at sunset, you can watch the sun set over the water as the bay faces (almost) West. There is good fishing nearby and my son caught a large trevally that we ate for lunch. We brought kayaks and went exploring the rest of Jervis Bay for part of each day. We also enjoyed our daily visits from the local kangaroos.
The bay and camp ground is open only during NSW public holidays and weekends and we have heard that it gets extremely crowded in December and January. If you phone ahead, the Rangers will tell you how many camp sites are available and offer lots of other good advice. They are keen to keep the natural beauty of the bay intact so they are very conscientious. It is worth following their direction and advice, even if it feels a little restrictive, to enjoy this extraordinary little piece of paradise.

Wow! Just wow!!!! Stunning spot. Beautiful Beach. Hubby on Kayak paddled with the Dolphins (A Dolphin pod that live in Jervis Bay!) Suitable for big rigs. Portaloos were fine. Bring own water. Spots 59-62 the best for big vans close to pathway, but away from through traffic. At $15/per night (kids free) it's great value.

Went with the in-depth scuba dive club for a shore dive to fill a lazy Sunday. While the visibility wasn’t great there was a bit to see and it’s easy navigateable. the bay is a great place for a family day out with shallow protected swimming, picnic / BBQ areas and toilets

Hi, I'm going to Jervis Bay this weekend and I wonder if I can park my caravan at Honeymoon Bay. Is it neccesary to book a site? How can I do it?
tHanks in advance!

carvans can make it here, but there is no running water or power. the road has a ton of ripples so drive slow. there is day parking or campsites, but either way you will be stopped at the gate before entering to pay a fee. its cash only. camping is only weekends or school holidays

It's not National Park but is owned by the Australian Defence Force who run it very similarly to National Parks. Jervis Bay itself is a Marine Park. We did not see any dogs in the camp ground or on the beach at all. The Visit NSW website says no pets are allowed.
