The Winding House is the museum for Caerphilly County Borough with engaging exhibitions on local history and heritage, hands-on activities and an exciting events programme. Explore local history and culture in our fascinating exhibitions and discover the original Victorian winding engine which runs on the last Saturday of every month (except for December) at 12pm. Our Coffee Shop offers delicious, traditional cakes, teas and coffees, while high quality souvenirs and crafts are available in our Gift Shop.

An interesting place to visit, the old winding engine is very authentic. Nice exhibitions both temporary and permanent, including a re-creation of a a valleys pub. The café was welcoming and had a selection of drinks and cakes.

A fascinating heritage centre that displays the old mining industry of South Wales. The winding house machinery is immense and powerful Coffee and cakes were delicious
