Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was given a clay shooting experience as a Christmas gift. I had previously never fired a shot gun before, so I did not know what to fully expect from the experience.
All I can say is ….brilliant. The whole experience is well worth while having a go.
There’s a short 15 minute class room session just to take a newcomer through the fundamentals of firearms safety, then it was out with Bryan ,one of the instructors who was very good at teaching the basics on how to present the gun and how to aim for a successful hit on clays coming from all directions.
I booked a 50 shot session, but because I was on my own it went by quickly , although 50 shots is plenty for a beginner . Next time I will try and get someone else to come along to stretch it out a bit longer. I didn’t hit every target, probably 60% or over , but for a first attempt I was very pleased.
I would definitely book here again, it is a very professional set up . Everything you need is provided for you….the gun, the shots, clays and most of all a very experienced and patient instructor.
Well done to all and a huge thank you for making my day Bryan.

Great experience for my dads 60th
Dave was a great instructor and made you feel really comfortable as well as advising how to aim, shoot and relax. Me and my sister were both very nervous and he made us feel at ease. My mum also suffers from ailments and Dave was very attentive at making sure she was ok and comfortable. I recommend to anyone looking to try clay pigeon shooting!

Lovely, relaxing stay in a nice remote location. Security on the site was good and there were activities to get involved with but we didn't use these.
Pod 7 - over looking the pond, with a hot tub, which we were able to use from our first night of arrival. The hot tub made this trip. The pod included all the basics listed on the website, it was clean and comfortable. The pod wasn't particularly spacious, but we had expected this, keeping items in the car helped to make the most out of the available space.
On check in and out the staff were friendly. There was a useful video to watch on arrival giving information needed for our stay.
Robes being provided was a pleasant touch, it would have been useful to have had somewhere to dry wet clothes but if we had visited in summer they could have dried outside but this wasn't an option on a wet and windy October weekend.

I recently visited Haywood Oaks Activity Centre for an afternoons shooting with some family. Ages ranging from my son of 13 to my Father-in-law at 86!!!
The setting is lovely, in the middle of the countryside and the people are all very friendly.
We enjoyed 50 shots each and we had not done any clay shooting before. The instructor, Bryan, was very friendly and helpful. Wanting us all to enjoy the day.
Some of were better than others but i would say we all enjoyed the experience.
There is a small café serving snacks and teas and coffees.

When you walk in and have to wash up dirty plates, stuff from previous guests, see how dirty/small Pod was, totally disgusted, certainly not a golf setting surrounding, and hot tub full of flying ants, bed had earwigs in , and you get 2 plastic beakers as well as 2 dirty everything, only our 2nd time in a POD, the 1st amazing at Laceby Manor, a relative booked this for hubby's 60th birthday 😥, apart from the amazing takeaway, we were glad to come home, and the gorgeous pygmy goats kept us entertained, but wouldn't return or recommend

Christmas present 50 shots each this week. Teacher was great , could not have been more experienced and attentive. We were instructed in gun etiquette before being allowed to touch one.
I have done a lot of shooting with front and rear or telescopic sights or from the hip, but having no rear sight threw me completely as I am (inconsistently) left eye dominant, so I must shut or occlude my left eye next time. Also the mask fogged our eye shields, so I would put micropore across the top edge to seal it .
Recoil was very easy with these cartridges, much less than a military rifle .

We booked a 3 nights away stay here at the beginning of May and wow what a hidden Gem this is. We stayed in the lakeside plus pod and had a hot tub. Very private cabins, and never too overlooked by anyone. Unfortunately when the weather isn’t so great there isn’t a lot to do, so i would highly recommend having a car as there isn’t much you can walk to at this location. But really clean , friendly staff and amazing views. Would definitely recommend.

What a find! Had a lovely 2 night stay in a lakeside pod, the positioning and view is stunning hot tub right over the lake. Pod was comfortable for 2 of us for 2 nights, with a kitchen and hot shower! So happy we found this place as we will be back! Water and capri suns, tea and coffee are supplied, also a powerful heater! We asked for fresh towels as ours got soaked from the rain and we were given them which we really appreciate, thank you!!
Thank you again!!

This was a Christmas present from my husband, 25 clays each. Bryan was a great teacher and his passion for the sport was obvious. He was patient and helpful and we both had an excellent experience. We may well be back for some proper lessons.

Is there anything within walking distance to get something to eat please
Xx
There is a cafe (open 10-4 on weekends and 10- dusk on weds/thurs) on site but everything else would require transport.

I've booked a weekend here and I'm wondering is it easy access into the grounds at night time.

Hi. We are coming to stay on Monday. Can you fish in the lake? Is it worth taking our fishing tackle? Thank you

Hi. We are due to arrive at exactly 7:25pm to check in and wondered if that will be ok? It’s due to work and driving distance. Thank you in advance.
