Good place for an escape

Left the city feeling wound up and got home feeling relaxed. The locals are friendly and welcoming and sunny days make it a perfect retreat.

Wide and long, with waves that draw surfers from many countries in Europe, this beach is beautiful. On warm and sunny days, and during low tides, walk along the beach that could take you all the way to Paimogo (with a small ruin up on the hill). I enjoyed feeling the sand under my feet and watching people catch octopus... More

Windy and clean beach. Never too crowded, as it is very long, it offers many facilities in the surrounding area. The visit will not disappoint you, to spend a beach day or only for a walk in the well conditioned paseo.

If you want to relax, this small village is the place. People are friendly and you will find a great number of surfers! Just go and stay in a cheap hostel. A nice experience :)

Areia Branca holds a special place in my heart as I spent my childhood summers there... Lots of clean sand and plenty of waves for surfing, or just running and frolicking in. The water and tides can be quite strong, or quite calm, depending on the weather and time of day/type of tide. Low tide opens up a new world... More

This beach is looooong, sandy and really nice. Walk it up and down, rest under the sun and splash with your feet in the water. But if you want to swim, this may not be the place to do so. Sea is wavey and water is chilly, so you are better of with the rackets and the ball than in... More

We have always loved this beautiful stretch of beach but even more so now with a 10 month old during low tide when the beach has small warm pools of water! Love it!
