The tour guides were excellent in explaining and talking about the lighthouse which is full of interesting stories of the past. The surrounding grounds which are beautiful to walk around also possess an energy of the past which can transform you back in time.

Fanad is a short drive north of Letterkenny and an excellent day trip. The lighthouse is striking and the views worthy of postcards. Be sure to also visit nearby Ballymastocker beach

Paid to walk the grounds and although the views and lighthouse are lovely, we thought it was overpriced as the walk around grounds is very short.

The lighthouse has some interesting history and the guide was excellent. Very steep stairs so not suitable for young kids as they have to walk up the stairs themselves. Views on the way out were spectacular. Well worth a visit !
