About Llandegfedd Lake Visitor and Watersports Centre
Set in the rolling landscape of south east Wales, between Usk and Pontypool, Llandegfedd Reservoir is a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It's an attraction a world away from the relentless pace of modern life, and with 434 acres of water and acres of woodland and grasslands, the reservoir has plenty of things to offer. With over four miles of footpaths and the Reservoir Trail for walking, three miles of banks for angling and a large sailing area, there's something for all to enjoy. The Visitor centre, designed by award winning architects, contains a stylish cafe and display area with panoramic views of the reservoir and watersports. It definitely has one of the best views in Wales to enjoy with your cuppa!

Brilliant days fishing at the wonderful wild and scenic llandegfedd reservoir. Lovely free parking, plenty of space and friendly staff.

My sister had wanted to visit this place for the last 5/6 years. It wasn’t a pleasant drive as it’s a very narrow country lane and with a large vehicle we had to slow down or stop a few times. When we got there, we found a parking space. On leaving people had parked on the grass and other places. We decided to walk around the lake and didn’t get far as that end has been closed off with fencing. You don’t notice until you get a little closer. It was by the cabin where you hire equipment. As a result we thought we would do the Reservoir walk. It’s shouldn’t be called that. It’s the through woods. We walked for quite a distance and could only see glimpses of the reservoir at times. I managed to get some 4G and checked the reviews. It was a little muddy in one area but mostly dry. Thankfully the warm weather would have dried up the mud trail. You need proper wellingtons or walking boots. We turned around as it was boring and nothing to see other than trees. I didn’t fancy doing 6 mile/10Km. It’s not suitable for 6 year olds unless they’re used to walking long distances. We headed back and my daughter & niece were hot. We got ice creams from the shops downstairs. You can get information and trail quiz for children. Things to stop, unfortunately on the way out is no good to children or anyone. Icecreams were usual Walls icecreams, Solero, twister, Cornettos in the self service freezer No actual scoop and cones. We sat on benches and enjoyed the views. It was pretty busy. It’s a pity the cafe didn’t sell nicer food as we had to head back closer to where my sister lives to find food for a late lunch. For the views I would give this reservoir a good rating. For the reservoir walk I would give that 1*. It should be renamed.

Staff were very helpful in providing a boat for my days fishing. Cafe with a robust social distancing discipline. A good day out and I caught my ticket full of trout. Beautiful location for a good days fishing.

Enjoyed navigating around the lake in a double canoe for 2 hours. Great value and good fun. Clear directions about where to go and how to be safe. Staff were excellent, very helpful. Nice takeaway food and coffee sitting outside afterwards.
