The cruise goes up the Maribyrnong River and takes 2 hours. It is a wonderful trip with an informative commentary by both of the crew. I rate this as one of the best value trips in Melbourne. The crew (Warrick & Peter Summerville) made the...More

Peter & Warick Somerville, (father & son) have been navigating the waters of the Maribyrnong and the Yarra Rivers since 1979. What Peter doesn't know about the history the of these rivers, the Maribyrnong in particular, wouldn't fill a real estate pamphelet. A charismatic and...More

So relaxing to sit and absorb the peaceful backwaters of the Maribyrnong River with Peter Somerville's commentary and son Mark at the helm, as you wend your way upstream past the Flemington Racecourse to the historic Canning Tea Gardens where locals enjoyed their Sunday entertainment...More

This river cruise was very relaxing and we enjoyed the commentary and scenery. It is hard to believe you are in the middle of Melbourne in parts of the cruise. Certainly value for your money!

What a peaceful and relaxing activity to do. The cruise is only a few hours and you get to see a part of the Maribyrnong River that you do usually see. This a great activity for anyone to do especially tourists.

In peaceful rustic settings the 2 hour up river trip is a chilled out journey reliving the past heavy industrial scene that once dominated the Maribrynong River. The old Blackbird ferry and the river are as one with each other, as it's plied up and...More

Just so easy and nice. Park next to the boat, carry food and drinks aboard, no compulsion to listen to the commentary - skipper reads the crowd well and his knowledge of the our city is remarkable. Just need a low tide to get below...More

For $20 you can spend 2 hours going up the river to Essendon area and get a great commentary and a unique perspective on Melbourne. Some great photography to be had. Highly recommend for the tourist looking for things off the main road.

Passion, Enthusiasm, Knowledge is what you get when guided by Peter and Warwick on the only Maribyrnong cruise. Not to be missed. Take the gentle ride up and down the river for two hours of expert commentary. See part of Melbourne you didn't know existed....More

What a little gem this is, tucked away on the Marybinong river in a run down shed is an 80 year old captain of the Blackbird river boat, with a wealth of knowledge of the history of the river and its inhabitants. A very informative...More
