- JeffNew Castle, Delaware2 contributionsStop here!We saw the sign for chocolate and had to check it out. So glad we did! First, we went into the cafe. I got the Cacao latte and my gf had the hot chocolate. Both were 🔥 . The treats were great too. And we absolutely love one of their employees. Brownie the dog was so friendly and attentive. She visited everyone and sat quietly for pets. We then made our way around back to the shop and factory. We were given a sample of their milk chocolate. Move over Belgium and Switzerland, Hazel Mountain is coming for you. Sooo good! We definitely recommend stopping in and trying it out. And if you see Brownie, give her all the pets and tell her we said hi.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 April 2024
- Wendy M67 contributionsCute shop but cafe is a sit and eat, not a to go placeOur guide had us stop here for some delicious chocolates. You can see the making of the chocolates. Samples are readily available too. There is a cafe which sells hot chocolate and tea. We wanted it to go but they don’t have that. This is the reason I didn’t give this place a 5 star. Otherwise the place was nice, small and easy to shop around for tea and chocolates.Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 17 June 2024
- Michelle MMarshallton, Delaware53 contributionsWhat a fabulous stop!!This chocolate and the coffee is fantastic!! It’s pricey, but it’s well made with quality ingredients from a 300 year old farm!! Come here and buy a few treats to enjoy during your trip and grab an easy and delicious set of gifts for your friends back home!! This is a must-do as well Corcomroe Abbey right nearby.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 August 2024
- MMMHDungarvan, Ireland816 contributionsAn Expensive VisitThis is a very popular stop off point for many coach tours in the Burren area. There are lots of people there and a real buzz around the place. The café lacks atmosphere and the prices are high, The cakes look good though! The eye-watering charges continue in the shop, €7.95 for a small, but unbelievably delicious, bar of milk or dark chocolate. A sharing bar, largish but thin, is about €25! Disappointing aspect of the visit is the lack of free samples. You are offered one tiny piece of milkl chocolate and one of dark. I have been to the Nestlé factory in Switzerland where you roll out the door after all the samples The chocolate ihere is out of this world but so too are the prices. Be prepared to dig deep in your pockets.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 August 2024
- M M2 contributionsLovely but completely overpricedWas here a few times over past couple of years and it just gets more and more expensive. Chocolate bars have gone up by 1 euro in past year and are now just short of 8 quid !!! and the cakes and hot chocolates are ridiculously overpriced at over 5 euros and near 7 euros respectively for slice of chocolate cake, cheesecake or carrot cake . Yes the products are lovely , the location and views are very pretty also but come on , stop ripping tourists off and be careful as you might price yourself out. I live in Galway city, often go walking in this area and would come here regularly but just can't afford to with those prices.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 8 September 2024

We stopped by and were excited to sample the hot chocolates. Very disappointed for the price we paid, hot chocolate had very little taste and the brownie was the same, tasteless and dry.
Expected a lot better for the price of it, definitely a tourist trap.

I went to Hazel Mountain Chocolate with my Mum and I shocked to find what I did.
Everything is wildly over-priced and clearly a tourist trap. The cakes look beautiful in an Instagram kind of way, but they were dry and inedible and ridiculously expensive.
However, by far the worst experience I had at the factory was watching the owner Kasha interact with the workers in her establishment. She was condescending, rude and downright mean to them when they were clearly working very hard. They would be in the middle of serving a customer and she would walk over and criticise them and send them away with their tail between their legs. I could not fathom how anyone would want to work there based off that one experience.
The only redeeming experience of the whole day was meeting Giles in the chocolate factory. I had so hoped that he was the owner as I wanted to come back, but he is not and I will not be. Your workers deserve to be respected, as they are the beating heart of your business. Kasha managed to leave a bad taste in my mouth strong enough to never return. However, I wish Giles the very best as he did his absolute best to make the experience a lasting one.

My friends and I took a day trip from Galway to Hazel Mountain Chocolate. The tour was fantastic and we learned so much about chocolate making. John is so passionate about what he does and welcomed questions which made the experience so much better. The chocolate is divine- I would very much recommend the tour.

WoW ... My wife and I came across this little find whilst exploring the the Burren on West coast of Ireland. We had super tour of the chocolate factory by English man who spent over 30 mins taking us through the production of the chocolate. We could even see the guy producing and roasting the chocolate. The tour was free and we got to sample the chocolate.
We then took in the Irish produce shop where we met the most amazing English lady called Helen. She explained all about the products, where they were sourced from and how they were produced. She helped my wife select so great gift and beautiful scarf and hat. She spoke on the area, and where we should take in next. Made our visit amazing.
Before we left with our chocolate we called into the coffee shop and tried the amazing homemade carrot cake & hot Chocolate. Both were amazing and full of flavour.
We will be back in winter 2020 and look forward to seeing the two English guys at venue. 5 star spot!

We Brought a selection of the individual chocolates. Quite pricey at 12 euros for 6 and no samples to try to see which we would prefer so it was pot luck. We only enjoyed the Earl Grey chocolates, the others, the pistachio one and tahini ones where really disappointing, verging on being unpleasant. I'm sure the quality of thier blocks of chocolate are good and wish we brought a couple of them instead. Essentially we paid 12 euros for 2 chocolates that were edible. It feels this place does well enough off the tourists buses that there isn't much effort put into the experience itself when choosing. Just some little samples would help, that way we would probably have brought more and not been disappointed. Hot chocolate in cafe was lovely though.

This place is very well designed for covid 19. Everything is nicely separated, social distance is maintained and the one way system works well. It is very hard to break as you pay for your coffee then walk out a separate door. I saw a guy try to walk in the wrong way but was quickly stopped by the staff member. Staff wearing masks, only thing that was lacking, was hand sanitizers. We ordered a hot chocolate and latte which was nice a little pricey but it's a tourist type place at the end of the day.

Not only are the cakes in the cafe absolutely delicious to see how all their chocolate is made is mesmerising just a spectacular location all in all. Also the staff are very friendly and polite I can't wait to visit again I would travel all the way across country just to go.

Is this the same property that John O'Connell leads hikes out of? Was with him in March 2010 with wife and three sons, and a busload of international students; good walk, good craic. If same place/people, sincere congrats on building up such a beautiful business (went thru pics)! And as for the people who whine about high prices, screw 'em. Actually, the message can always be embedded in the experience, "only by charging prices that allow a modest profit can we operate this type of business in this location for your enjoyment and pleasure. We are so glad you found us!" Next time in the Burren, will have you on my list! Spent a month there in 2015 encompassing Burren In Bloom; stayed in Lisdoon and Corofin. Will look to roost between Fanore and Kinvarra next time.
