Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We first heard of this winery at breakfast from fellow travellers staying at the same Guesthouse as us. They had been on a winery tour the day before and recommended a visit.
Rustic and minimalist is how I would describe the barn in which the cellar door, vats and other winery equipment resides. This is a small family run winery that was established in 1995.
Our welcome from Chiara, one of the co-owners, though was very warm. he advised that we could taste whatever we wanted on the tasting list and that there was no fee as "most people buy something". And she was correct as we purchased several bottles of chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and the Cabernet Merlot blend.
There were 18 wines on the list including Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon, a Sav Blanc Semillon blend, Chardonnays, a couple of Roses, a couple of Cabernet Sauvignons, Cabernet Merlot blends, a Shiraz, a Shiraz Cabernet blend and a liqueur muscat.
We found that the Chardonnays (particularly the Golden Mile) and the Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Merlots were to our taste.
Very enjoyable visit.

We visited Brown Hill Estate winery as part of our Mr Mustang Hire tour. Chiara was so lovely and helpful. I am not a wine drinker but I tried their dessert wines and liqueur Muscat and loved them! My partner is a wine drinker and thought their wines were fantastic. We really enjoyed our experience here and would definitely recommend to everyone. Thanks again Chiara, will drop in next time we are in the area 😁👍

As a local I have visited Brown Hill Estate many times. I love their wines, there is nothing fancy about this cellar door ..no gift shop or food just people with a passion for making and promoting their glorious wines. Today I took two people that had never done a wine tasting, Chiara talked them through every wine .

We went on a half day wine tasting day and Brown Hill Estate was by far the best. Jim talked through the whole process and each wine. You could see how passionate he was about his wine.
All of the wine tasted great.
I now have six bottles of Bill Bailey to enjoy until I return again, or they become available in the U.K
If you go wine tasting in Margaret River make sure you go to the Brown Hill Estate.

Fantastic family owned winery down the picturesque Rosa Brook Rd. Brown Hill winery has a great selection of wines to taste. Gwen was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was hard to decide what to take home! Put this winery on your day trip while in the Margaret River area. We look forward to visiting again. Thanks Gwen and Nathan!

Classic MR tasting on a bench in the shed. Probably the best value red wines in MR - this is a place to buy from, rather than instagram. Nothing else - no t shirts, chocolates, tat.

Such a friendly welcome and some truly beautiful red wines. We had visited a couple of the bigger wineries nearby and weren’t as impressed as this smaller, family owned and run winery. Highly recommend - and we look forward to the wines waiting for us when we get home!!

My wife, father and I were recommended this amongst 3 other local wineries.
We loved the idea of the small producer selling from a shed and was encouraged by the possibility of finding my ideal red.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a happy little dog that ran out to meet us but unfortunately that is really where the interactive experience ended.
Once inside we were met by an older lady who greeted us with a grunt despite our cheery entrance. Once it was finally established that we were there to taste wine we found the process hard work, being comfortable in this environment of giveaways is an important part of marketing.
Despite letting our host know that we had been recommended we found any (and their weren't many) tastings very much not offered but instead we had to persistently ask, with each sample being delivered with a brief cold statement of facts and very little else.
After two samples I called it quits and was not interested in almost having to beg to try a wine sample. Funnily enough the red I tried was one of my favorite however I can honestly say that I will not buy a wine from anywhere with such poor service skills.
The only time that I would return here is to take a class as a demonstration of how not to operate in a marketing or service industry.
If you don't like people coming in, don't have a cellar door.

A Margaret River local recommended we visit this winery if we liked reds from the Margaret River. We were told the cellar door was in a tin shed so weren't quite sure what to expect. The setting may be simple but the wines are exceptional. We loved the whole philosophy of the wine-makers who want to spend the money on making the best wine possible which is why the cellar door is much more simple than some of the other wineries we visited. The whites, reds and muscat were fantastic and have wonderful names that come from old Kalgoorlie mines - and the wines definitely live up to them in our view. We were definitely converted to Brown Hill Estate wines and look forward to drinking them for years to come.
