Have been to this museum when it was dull and denge. What a up grade looks good and more interesting then previously did. So if you have not been it's well worth going to now.

Not a lot to do here really most children will find it rather dull and boring. Situated in the park which has also seen better does all rather shabby and run down. Wouldn't waste my time going again

This place is a bit of a shlep but if you are interested in the history of London then its well worth the journey. A very old manor house that's been refurbished and though visually unprepossessing has a LOT of history tucked under its roof. They occasionally have temporary exhibitions and when I went it was one on Hardy Amies,... More

Living local i always visit every so often. the staff are always keen to tell you stories and information. I do have photos of when the gardens first opened many years ago. it was in the local papers. Happy memories.

Who would have thought that such a place would be found in Dagenham?! Getting off the bus from the local underground station in a flurry of snow we found Valence Park, all very well sign posted. An old house centuries old, from the days when the area was farm land. It houses an interesting collection of things of local interest,... More

This house has been furnished in the 1920's period. It has been kept decorated and fitted in keeping with the style and period features remain intact. The surrounding 5 miles of estate were mostly built in the 1920's although some red brick houses were added in the 1940's to house those in London whose homes were destroyed by the bombs... More

This place appears to be short of both funding and visitors, and it shows. Staff bored and reminiscent of the USSR.

I enjoyed learning about the house and Barking Abbey's history, as well as some of the prehistory. It's not the most fascinating place but worth an hour or so. The only aspect that was a bit overdone was an overeager staffer who wouldn't stop talking when we wanted to read the placards.

A wealth of info. Helpful staff who love their subject. A must for lovers of local history. A good cafe with homemade cake. A lovely park surrounds it. The best.
