Stopped in late lunch time, after having a disappointing visit to the cathedral and wished we had spent the day here instead. Greeted warmly by a lovely young woman who asked if we'd been before, then provided us with a map and some suggestions of how to make our way around to see the exhibits. We set off and immersed... The museum has been opened for many years and holds items of Cornwalls history from pre-history to modern. The minerals gallery is particularly impressive with beautiful rock samples from Cornwalls rich mining history

I came along with the family for the excellent Bloodhound SSC talk and display and found the RCM bursting with new things and refreshed old gems.

Fascinating collection of local interest and some nationally important items. As well as a fantastic mineral collection. Oh and great food in the cafe as well. A1+

I think this museum has a mixed theme. I was expecting it to just be a museum for Cornish life but there was a monster exhibition, a Mexican gallery and an Egyptian area. All were very interesting. The ground level has a lot of archaeological finds and pottery which I have seen in other county museums also. Some was devoted... More

This musium has a really interesting and diverse group of exhibits. There is a huge selection of geological specimens but the biggest surprise was to find an Egyptian mummy. Definitely worth a visit.

2 rooms on the first floor of the museum were given over to this exhibition - various "luminaries" including David Attenborough & Robin Hanbury-Tenison were invited to choose their favourite place on earth & the artist set about painting them in watercolours. David Attenborough chose a coral reef & this & the remoteness of some locations posed interesting logistical challenges... More

The booklet on Poldark Trail was more interesting than the so called Trail. Bloodhound World Land Speed vehicle was not interactive with very little infomation. In fact none of the interactive buttons were working in the whole museum. Too much ceramics & glass exhibits. Ancient Egypt, Greece & Rome could have been better. Whole room upstairs dedicated to Tony Foster... More

My wife and I visited this museum to view the Poldark Trail and to learn and understand more about Cornwall. We were not disappointed and there is far more fascinating information here than a short visit can justify. The items and articles of interest cover not only Cornwall but include artefacts of global interest such as the Egyptian mummy and... More
