Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You'll never know what it feels like until you are here and not shy of having fun and being yourself. Some people think talking to strangers is prohibited, but there's no limitations as to what one can do, as we live in a world of endless possibilities. Talking to strangers is a completely amazing thing that I'll never stop doing. This amazing photo was taken by a stranger, and these same people we see as strangers are actually Angels walking on feet.
We need to learn to give STRANGERS a chance, and to learn to speak with people in order to be able to attain the full spirit of Love.

D.T. Fleming Beach Park is a great beach experience for adults and kids. Good snorkeling, good waves, and often turtles. Lifeguards, bathroom facilities, and barbecue areas. Having visited Maui at least 15 times, I usually visit D.T. Fleming Beach Park at least a couple times each visit. I have had no complaints over the years, except for this year (July 2024) as there is now a flat $26 + tax parking fee one must pay even if they are only parking for a couple hours. There is a very small parking lot that has no parking fee, but good luck finding a parking spot. The parking fee is likely the reason I was surprised at how few people were at the beach relative to so many past years. There are so many other good beaches with free parking, I imagine D.T. Fleming Beach Park will see a drop in visitors. Charging visitors/tourists (not residents) parking fees is undoubtedly Hawaii's way of making up for financial losses it experienced during COVID-19 years. I find it a strange way to penalize visitors/tourists that provide Hawaii the financial resources it seeks for its residents. It reminds me of the age-old quote, "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth"...which is exactly what Hawaiian government is doing wrong.

What I liked about DT Fleming Beach - #1. I had no problem parking. I parked there twice in one day as we left for lunch and then went back and both times I was able to find nice, close parking. #2. They have a lifeguard. #3. They have restrooms facilities there. The day we went to this beach was very windy, so the waves were big and fun to swim in. The beach itself was nice and clean. We had a great time at this beach! If you have the time, be sure to walk south past the Ritz and go see Dragon's Teeth on Makaluapuna Point. Beautiful!

Had awesome time with the large waves! We rented boogie boards and spent several hours in the ocean. We also enjoyed watching the surfers.
We had so much fun we went twice in our week in Maui

When I was planning our trip and looking for the best beachse in Maui this would always be ranked somewhere between 5th and 10th. After going to almost all the beaches on Maui, our entire family (epsecially the kids) would rank this #1. Beautiful beach. Wasn't crowded the two times we went (both days were mid-afternoon). Bigger waves which the kids loved. Overall just a wonderful beach. Don't miss out on this beach.

We love this beach, and return every time we visit Maui. This last time, in April of 2021 we saw numerous turtles swim right by us.. Less than 10 feet away Great beach, nice sand!

Great beach for the family. Calmer water to the left with plenty of sand, waves and sand in the middle, and waves and reef to the right. Small drop off 10-yards out from the water line and then a gradual decline the further you go out. Great wave sets for body boarding and body surfing. Oh, and the casual sea turtle to pass by.

This is a lovely small beach next to the Ritz Carlton. It has a life card which is a plus for families. During our stay at the waves were bigger than expected so there wasn't a lot of snorkeling. However, it is a great beach.
The burger shack is located in this area so there's food and great milkshakes.

We went to several beaches during our our Maui trip - Kapalua Bay beach, Napili, Honolua Bay, Slaughterhouse Beach, and DT Fleming Beach. DT Fleming was our favorite. There is a long stretch of sand, plenty of space to spread out and relax. Not crowded!!! Not overused. Plenty of parking, no matter what time of day, we found parking (put Preschool at Kapalua into your phone, and there is a big parking lot for the beach next to it). It is the beach closest to the Ritz, w great food at the Burger Shack right there. Also, lifeguards and bathrooms. We went daily!!! Also, gorgeous views, and just the right waves (we got lucky).

This is not a remote beach... however there is plenty of room, bathrooms, an easy walk and the Westin has a restaurant/ bar just off the beach. Swimming is safe and some folks are boogie boarding or surfing.
Plenty of families and lots of room with good views.... you won't be alone, but it's not overcrowded.
Enjoy.

Is it paid parking at D.T. Fleming Beach? If so, what is the fee?
Written 16 June 2019
Parking is free at this pubic beach. Around 20 spots at the lot closest to the beach; around 80 spots in the other lot across Lower Honoapiilani Rd. (farther away).

Yes, we used both the public washroom at the beach and also the one at the burger shack (four season hotel)

Is there a place on this beach to rent chairs/ snorkel or paddleboards??
Written 19 February 2017
I don't think there is anyplace on the beach itself. There is one business but I thik it's just food service. The beach adjoins the Riz Carlton hotel at Kapalua but I doubt that there would be any rental opportunity there for anybody not a guest of the hotel.

Hi! I'd like to know if Alcohol is allowed on the beach along with coolers. Also, how is the weather/beach in October? Is there a way to reserve the picnic tables for a large crowd? Are there any bars or restaurants located on the beach?
Thanks!
Written 19 September 2016
You can have coolers and beer on the beach at DTFleming... There are no restaurants at that beach. Weather is great in October...but like everywhere else on the islands it changes quickly. If it happens to be bad just give it a short time and it will be great again!
