- Linda MHeanor, United Kingdom2 contributionsGreat tourMy husband and I did the distillery tour this morning with Sarah and others and I have to say it was really good. Sarah is a great host and definitely knew her stuff. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour. The samplings at the end were very enjoyable.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 October 2023
- Robert M5 contributionsWhisky Distillery Warehouse TourA great tour yesterday with our friendly and knowledgeable guide Tom. Something for everyone from novice to full on whisky geek. The tour was great, looking round the old wire works, finding out about the history of the site and seeing how White Peak have transformed the buildings into a working whisky distillery. Nothing was too much trouble for Tom, he made us all feel very much at ease, not talking down to us, clearly articulating his passion for whisky and the spirit that White Peak produce. The tasting in the the warehouse was really great with samples taken right from the cask! Drivers had the option of taking the drams home with them so nobody misses out and everyone also got to take home their tasting glass, a lovely touch. Its not all whisky though the shop also sells some great merch! Shining Cliff Gin, hot drinks and snacks, well worth a visit even if you don't have time for a tour! Ten out of ten a real Derbyshire gem.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 October 2023
- Richard H9 contributionsAwesome afternoonDid the warehouse experience with Tom, very knowledgable, would highly recommend. Had to rearrange twice due to health reasons, but the team were incredibly helpful and definitely worth the wait. The way it’s structured, I may well have to visit again in a year or two, and deffo when they get a small releaseVisited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 8 October 2023
- Charlotte L1 contributionCracking afternoon outWe have just been on the White Peak distillery tour - really enjoyed it! Our guide was very knowledgable, the tour was informative but fun, and the whisky tasting at the end was delightful! Unfortunately left a little lighter in the pocket - had to buy a couple of bottles to enjoy at our leisure…Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 October 2023
- kirkyboy1234Derby, United Kingdom5 contributionsWhisky distillery toutThe distillery is on our doorstep in a wonderful old wireworks site. We were welcomed and booked in and after a brief chat about health and safety it was on with the tour. Cain was extremely knowledgeable and explained the process from start to finish. All questions asked were answered and explained. On to the testing. 3 samples of whiskey a sample of rum and a whiskey liquor to finish. A fantastic 2 hrs spent and highly recommended. Thankyou againVisited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 15 October 2023

I had no idea what to expect, but all the information was really interesting and lots I didn't know. Our guide Tom was really helpful and answered our questions. - ElDerby, United Kingdom34 contributionsDistillery TourIt was great to see a local English whisky distillery. Our guide was really informative and answered any questions we had. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. The only thing to consider is they don't seem to offer a driver's pack which would be good, but everyone does get a lovely nosing glass to take home!Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 October 2023
- Jasmine P10 contributionsA stunning experienceBought two tours and whisky tasting spaces for my partners birthday and what can I say we loved it! The location is stunning - based in an old wire works factory (we both ar archaeologists so loved the setting!) and the tour was amazing. Sarah was our guide and she was wonderful, very knowledgeable and showed us all the processes behind whiskey, gin and rum making! The tasting session blew my partner away! He loved it and we were thrilled to be able to try 4 whiskys and 1 rum - really nice bonus/suprise! A nice touch was them doing drivers drams so I could still try everything once I got us back home! Fully recommend this to anyone who wants to do something a little different as a day our or (like me) as a unique gift. Thanks for this great review. I'm glad you enjoyed your tour with Sarah. We aim to be accommodating by offering drivers drams, we hope you enjoyed the samples once you got home.Written 8 November 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 October 2023
- Adam M2 contributionsA relaxed and informative tour around White Peak Distillery.I discovered White Peak Distillery last year with the release of their first whisky. The whisky was excellent and started me not only on my personal whisky journey but encouraged me to follow the wire works whisky journey too. I finally went on the ‘Whisky tour’ in July 2023, taken round by distillery manager Dave and had such a good time I decided to book on their ‘warehouse tour’ for today (October 2023). The warehouse tour started off with a tour around the distillery workings (with Dave again) and progressed to sitting around some filled casks sampling some very nice cask strength samples. The added bonus was getting to sample an upcoming single cask release straight from the cask which was pretty special. I also managed to pick up the new release ‘Virgin oak’ from the distillery shop while i was there, adding to my personal wire works collection. The tours here are perfect for whisky lovers but are also great if you’re not a whisky fan and just want to see the workings of a distillery. Book onto a tour you won’t regret it! Cheers! 🥃Thanks for the great review, and I'm glad you thoroughly enjoyed our immersive Warehouse Tour with Dave. Thanks for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy your latest Wire Works Whisky purchase!Written 8 November 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 28 October 2023

I've visited many distilleries, large and small, and this was one of the very best tours that I have had. Dave's enthusiasm and commitment were obvious from the start, and it felt like a conversation with a cheerful expert, rather than the watered-down PR exercise that you can get at some more famous names. I'm not a gin drinker, but was hugely impressed by the product (and came away with a bottle, which says it all). The new make whisky was well worth a taste, and I'd recommend a visit to anyone visiting the area - and anyone within easy travel distance. Support a small local business and have a great experience at the same time.! The 'minbus experience' was the cherry on the cake.

Our visit was for a gin tour and tasting which was a gift from a friend for my birthday. We had such a great time! We live in Belper so we are literally just down the road from here and it was so interesting to visit this local business. We had a short introduction then went into the working distillery for a tour. Although the distillery is small, the tour was fascinating, we were told about the history of the building, that was an old wire works, the processes in producing the gin, whisky and rum were explained to us step by step and then we had a tasting session. We tried 3 gins, a rum and their whisky. The glasses were included as souvenirs and we had the opportunity to ask questions and then visit their shop. I wasn't sure what to expect but we both thoroughly enjoyed our visit. So lovely to see how they were keeping their business authentic to the area. Incorporating both the names of their products and using botanicals from the surrounding area. Even the bottle design of their whiskey pays homage to the old wireworks they have breathed life back into! If you are a local its a privilege to see what these guys have done. For visitors to Derbyshire I would highly recommend for a morning or afternoon outing, its easy to get to on the A6 from Buxton, Bakewell, Matlock etc. 10/10 loved it!

Due to a calendar mistake, we arrived as a party of 6 an hour late for our tour!! After a slightly awkward moment, we were given a brilliant and informative tour by Tom, who obviously knew his subject and was totally passionate about it. He managed to impress two whisky drinking Scotsmen with his tour of the distillery, handling of questions skillfully and imparting enthusiasm about the products. When the time came for the tasting session, we were handed over to Caine who was equally knowledgeable and enthusiastic and we had a very enjoyable tasting session. We all bought bottles at the end of the tour and it was good value and an hour and a half well spent.

Tucked away at the back of the old Wire Works site is a little gem producing liquid gold. White Peak Distillery offers a number of different tours and we made a last minute decision to take our visitors from the South East on the Distillery Tour. At £15pp it made for a fantastic morning. Cain was our guide and as fast as you thought of a question he was already covering it in his very informative narration. It was interactive, as you were invited to check on the contents of a number of mash tuns and learn about the various stages and slight variations throughout the process, which each give a slightly different end product. The company is relatively new, but you can feel the energy and enthusiasm of those involved. There was the all important tasting, after the tour, where, as well as the Whisky, there were samples of Shining Cliff Gin and a Rum (also both produced on site). Autumn/Winter visitors should dress warmly as it can be cold in the production area, but there’s a huge log burner in the tasting room. Plenty of opportunity to buy the products and other items in the shop at the end. Cannot recommend highly enough. Tours are listed on their website, but it’s advisable to book, particularly at the weekend. Thanks for a great experience guys..and gals 🥃👏🏻👏🏻

There is no whisky to taste yet unfortunately, however you can enjoy lots of inspiring enthusiasm and 4 samples of gin+tonic that is interesting as usually you would get neat gin with some ice maybe. I would suggest to offer some neat gin samples or to offer choosing to add tonic. 5 stars regardless 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Absolutely fantastic place. Despite having been hit hard by the recent floods, they have adapted the site to keep everything running well so you still get a brilliant experience.
The distillery tour was by far the most interesting and informative of any I have been on. The flavour of their gins is incredible and it is great that they use locally foraged produce.
The team could not have been more helpful or accommodating - bursting with knowledge and enthusiasm which was infectious. I would thoroughly recommend.

Took my fiancé here as a surprise on our holiday and he loved it! It’s a small, welcoming distillery with some great people! We had previously been to Bushmills in Northern Ireland but loved this experience more.
We arrived slightly late due to traffic but we were shown in to join the group and no fuss was made about it. The tour guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and even discussed how new products were agreed upon.
After the tour, we were shown into the tasting room where we were given a gin & tonic, a shot of rum, and a shot on whiskey. They were all delicious! To top it off, we were given the tasting glasses as part of the experience to take home.
We left with a bottle of Bakewell Tart Gin and a bottle of Whiskey. Definitely something we will recommend to more people!

Well what an experience this was, from the very first moment you pull up to the distillery you know this is a place that has heart, Kane who did the tour was awesome and explained the process brilliantly with a great enthusiasm and personal touch to the tour, with some great stories you need to go and find out about the passion that has gone into the whiskey making and the very thought out ideas for gin and rum, we went for my partners 40th with her dad who use to run shining Cliff youth hostel with his wife. Kane loved the story, the products we walked out with at the end were based on taste (obviously it’s all amazing) and Kane’s clear passion for the products that are made. I would recommend anyone come visit it’s a great place to visit learn.

This distillery tour was a great little find! We’ve done a few at other locations, but this one stood out for a couple of reasons. Firstly the history of the location and the way this intertwines with the their products makes it special, especially for locals! Secondly the tour and tasting session was brilliant and all done by a guide who also worked on the distilling process, this meant she was very knowledgeable about the process. The tour and tasting lasted just shy of 90 minutes and we were a group of 7 people. The tasting gave us samples of 2 gins, 1 rum and 2 whiskeys. We would recommend this distillery, we did buy from the shop as we left too, it was very reasonably priced!
