Even the entrance to the castle is impressive, the reception has a beautiful shell wall, and the castle itself is large, and lots to do. even if you dont go inside, there are lovely walks around it and beautiful scenery

staff were very friendly and had lots of information on the back ground of the place. I did think the cost was a bit steep though , cos it dosnt take long to get round.

How much time should we anticipate a tour of the castle taking? Just trying to plan the rest of our trip and activities, so an approximation would be very helpful!

I appreciate this is an old question but for anyone reading this now the time can vary depending on the size of the party and whether you spend time in the grounds. Best to allow up to an hour and 30 mins. There is a cafe... More

Yes, there is the Bailey car park up the hill from the castle, £4.00 all day, £2.00 Saturdays, when you have paid, drive to the bottom near the coach park as there is a gate nearer to town
