Kilnsey Park nestles beneath Kilnsey Crag in the Yorkshire Dales. The cafe and shop overlook the fishing lakes and look up to the crag beyond. The service in the cafe is exceptionally good and the food is excellent. As a trout farm, tasty fish are prominent on the menu and are always fantastically fresh, never frozen. It was about 25... We'd not been to Kilnsey since our six-year-old was a toddler so had a run out one Sunday afternoon. On arrival the clouds were looming dark and menacingly so headed straight for coffee and cake in the hope they would blow over. The cafe was almost empty when we sat down to our lattes, carrot cake, apple juice and chocolate... More

Hi Carolyne we're really glad you enjoyed your visit to Kilnsey Park to meet the animals and found the cakes delicious. The red squirrels are mostly out and about in the afternoon around tea-time and sleep a lot during the rest of the day! More

Popped in for a cake and coffee as I was passing. The cake was absolutely delicious - coffee and chocolate - very moist and very gooey! Perfect in fact! And very friendly staff too!

We visited the park today with our five year old son, primarily to view the wild orchids as my partner is an orchid enthusiast. We were not disappointed - the orchids were spectacular - although the rare lady's slipper orchids were already finished, and still in their pots, not wild at all! However, we were extremely impressed with the well... More

Hi Jennie we're really glad you enjoyed your day at Kilnsey Park and would highly recommend us to other families. We're happy that your son loved the animals and catching his own fish. Rest assured that the rare orchids are wild and planted in the ground, but they all have copper rings around them to keep the slugs off -... More

I visited on Sunday of the recent May Bank Holiday. We were speculative visitors and called in when we saw the sign for the Trout farm. Fresh trout for tea would have been great. I found out where I had to go to order fish and then ordered three. I was second in the queue and an order had to... More

Dear David, we are disturbed to hear your comments about our standards of fish welfare. We have been fish farmers since 1978 and we are passionate about what we do. That’s why I’ve carried out a thorough investigation into what you say you saw. The fish that you saw being carried into the processing room were already stunned and ready... More

Went with a large group of friends with families. Great scenery and peaceful setting. Staff amazing. Cafe very nice. Had a great time fun fishing only wish we didn't have to pay and keep the fish. Nevertheless kids loved it so made it worth while. We had fish and chips in cafe and it was delicious. I would suggest they... More

We're very happy that you enjoyed your visit and found our staff so helpful, we'll pass this on. We're glad that you found the fun fishing great - we have to operate a catch and keep policy in the interests of fish welfare (in the old days when people tried to put them back it wasn't kind to the fish).... Our car club of over 60 Vauxhalls were made very welcome with the best coffee and cakes I've ever seen. Charming staff who deserve to do well in their new Cafe. The sun shone in the wonderful setting. We even saw a fisherman carrying an enormous fish he'd just caught.
