Visited to buy a good bottle of whisky for our sons 30th. There's such an amazing choice and lots of information. I'm not a whisky drinker but I enjoyed looking at all the different bottles and their ages and seeing how expensive some were.
The staff were really friendly and we left delighted with our whisky. A whisky connesieurs dream.

Wright Wine in Skipton, Yorkshire, has a fantastic selection of wines and whiskies, amongst other spirits and drinks. The folks there really know their stuff -- feel free to start a conversation to get guidance on a tipple that suits you. The staff are eager to help.

We have used the delivery service during the covid19 pandemic. They have been wonderful. Plenty of choice of wines and new products now being added . The website is easy and delivery prompt. The staff are friendly and helpful. We would rather support a local business than a supermarket too and the prices are competative. Brilliant .

This wine and spirits emporium is an utter delight and a visitor attraction in its own right although I’m sure they’d prefer you to stock up while there (shouldn’t be difficult, so much to tempt). A massive range of the most delectable and unusual wines, whiskies, gins and liqueurs from around the country and the world. It’s all set out in a series of interconnected rooms, up and down steps an an ‘olde worlde’ shop set beside the church and castle at the top of the town. We always go while in the area. The owner is very knowledgeable.

Unless you look the part, wear Barbour and drive a 4x4, and can park on double yellow lines and get away with it. Speak with a plum in your mouth, Flash your American Express don't go.
After speaking with a well respected Whisky Company, I called at the shop as needed a special Christmas Present, It was raining outside and I may not have looked my best, however my Credit Cards and yes Cards where the same as everybody elses in the Shop and Yes I do have a big flash car, however I do chose to park legally.
I enquired about about a product, that was after I had been ignored quite a few times, and looked at like something that should have been in the bin. To be told that the Company no longer did that product and whoever gave me that information was wrong.
The person who dealt with me and I say this lightly as he had no choice called the said company and after a few words told me, Where else would I go and they phone the company direct. This was not done to my face, but said in a loud voice walking away from me, with a shop filled with people.On returning home I again contacted the said company who issued me with a copy of there original e-mail. The person from the Whisky Company has worked there for over 4 years and is a well respected member of there team.
So as I said unless you look the part, flash your cards and your car. Dont Go

Thank you for the constructive criticism. We really do appreciate the time people take to give us any form of feedback.
Firstly, we’d just like clarify that it was Julian who served you. As well as being the shop owner, he proudly went to a comprehensive school (Woldgate School in Pocklington). He does have a 4x4, but used to have a Citroen Saxo. Also, he may be prone to a bit of Barbour and Tweed from time to time, but we are on the edge of the Dales, and he’s a keen fisherman, so it’s not so out of place.
We’re sorry you felt you were ignored at first. Quite often we may be 15-20 minutes or more with each customer, so it is possible our team were busy when you arrived. Also, we can’t always account for what a third party says we have in stock. There’s no reason for us not to sell customers a product we have, and regularly have a member of the team at the warehouse and in our cellars to ensure we can meet expectations.
Upon speaking with yourself, we phoned Mike Fisher who is the Global Brand Ambassador for the product you were asking about. This was whilst you were in the shop - something we thought counted as going the ‘extra mile’ for a customer (on one of the busiest days of the year). It’s what we do, and all part of our service. Upon speaking with Mike, we sought his advice for an alternative product to the one you were looking for.
I was serving at the till at the time and heard Julian say – “If you don’t like it bring it back and we will refund it”, to which you replied: “Don’t worry - he will drink it.”! Furthermore Julian said for you to take a good measure out of the bottle, and if you don’t like it to bring it back and we will refund at the full price. Now there’s one heck of a ‘try before you buy’ policy don’t you think?!!
Thanks again for your comments and we hope you appreciate we are an independent specialist with a bit of character, and a whole lot of passion.
PS; Unfortunately we don’t accept AmEx but all other major cards are accepted. The only policy restrictive policy we have on who we serve is to under 18’s.

We were on a short break to Skipton and stumbled across this place on a walk in the area. The staff are extremely helpful and know about the products, very helpful and would recommend going see for yourself. I will certainly be returning as the choice of wine's, whiskies and gin is second to non.

After tasting some local gins at The Angel hotel,we discovered they came from here so as soon as we checked out of our hotel we went straight there.AMAZING!! If you’re keen on whisky or any spirits,this place is a must.

If you are looking for a place with a large selection of drinks this is the place. Wide choice of wines and spirits, the staff have great knowledge of wines and spirits and are very helpful.

We absolutely love going to Wright Wines; every visit we come out with something different (yesterday it was coffee liquor, who knew it could taste that good!!). Whether Whisky, Gin or good old wine is your tipple, the shop is packed with a huge array of choice and the staff will gladly help you navigate the vast selection. Tastings are always available and the last Saturday monthly wine tastings are not to be missed.
Skipton is blessed with many great retail outlets and Wright Wines is one that you MUST visit. Thank you Julian, Katie and team, keep up the great work. See you in 2019.

I have been a loyal customer of Wright's Wine and Whisky for 20 years. There are 2 simple reasons - 1) the attitude, knowledge and values of the people who work there and 2) the most complete and extensive stock of wine, whisky and other spirits that you will find. The Whisky stock in particular has to be one of the best nationally. Due to the approach of the staff I have widened and developed my own personal knowledge and taste - trying things I would have never have tried without the knowledge and expertise of Julian, Katy and the team. This simply would not have happened without the time they will give you when you go into the shop....and when its busy you night have to wait! This is a real business with the values which are vital to a successful independent retailer and the future of the high street. They value each customer - my usual spend is around £45 on a bottle of whisky and £8-£12 on a bottle of wine. I won't go anywhere else for my wine, whisky, gin or anything else they stock. I think its important we remember these retailers are not just for Christmas!

We have tried very hard over the last few years to keep on adding to the experience for our customers by opening new rooms and making the Old Smithy a wonderful place to explore.

Thank you for getting in touch. Unfortunately we are closed on Sundays (except in December)
We are open on Saturday 25th and have one of our monthly wine tastings that day between 12 noon and 4pm.
We always have hundreds of gins open to taste.
We are also open on the Bank Holiday Monday 11am-3pm.
