Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here last week along with my auntie. Brian the guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic which made our visit. I would recommend a visit to anyone and suggest that they allow a couple of hours.

My daughter is very interested in American presidents so on a visit to Ireland we decided to go to the Andrew Jackson homestead to indulge her passion. We couldn’t have met a better more knowledgeable chap than George (our tour guide). He was welcoming, friendly, warm and very tolerant and kind to one of our party. His exuberance was contagious. We absolutely loved the tour. Thank you George - you are a huge access to the homestead

Did not really know what to expect, but Steve our guide. Who was from Ballymena was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and good fun too. My knowledge of early 19th century US Presidents was fairly minimal but he offered not just facts but context of a nation settling in on itself after civil.war.a very enjoyable visit and recommended . It must be also said Steve is a credit to the Carrickfergus Council.

The Andrew Jackson center was closed when we arrived. We just saw the outside and was surprised that his parents came from Northern Ireland. Looks like it will be worth a visit.

This place is off the main road by the railway tracks, the building of which obliterated the original house of President Andrew Jackson's Parents. The house that is now presented is a genuine period house with typical contents. The US Rangers Museum was a nice surprise and is educational and poignant.

This was a delightful little spot that honored our 7th president whose parents were born just down the road. I was surprised at just how many presidents had family from Ireland. It was run by a charming man who was quite knowledgeable and very friendly. There is a second part of the exhibit dedicated to the Rangers fromWWII. The view was also quite nice. He said he was not visited enough. That needs to be corrected immediately. Don't miss this quaint little nook.

Very interesting place to see. Host Sean was exceptionally knowledgable and welcoming. There is also a separate exhibit for the US Rangers, who trained and were stationed in Carrickfergus in WW2. Well worth a visit!

Quite a few of the US earlier Presidents ancestral roots are in Northern Ireland. Wow that impressed me and seems like it is something others have noted -- since visit been reading up on Ulster Scots/Northern Irish and the huge influence on settling and developing the US --tough tough men (and women) doubt if we would have had or held on to what was to become the US had it not been for these tenacious people of Northern Ireland coming to America -- they deserve much recognition as does Northern Ireland
