Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A nice little stroll from the car park to this ruin of a church. Very photogenic with it’s leaning headstones, babbling brook, green rolling hills and crumbling church to explore.

The old church and graveyard are beautiful and in such a scenic place beside the coast.

You can walk a small path from Cushendall beach to get here or for the less agile you can drive up and venture down from the small carpark.

A visit to the church was recommended to us by a number of people living in Cushendal. It was a lovely experience to see the church first hand and the adjoining graves and headstones. Whilst the church is no longer in use, we found two new headstones from the '70s.
From the church we took the cliff face walk to Cushendal beach. Took a circular walk along the sea edge back into Cushrndall and ended the afternoon back at Cottage Walk, located above the village.
A lovely afternoons walk, pleasurable in every sense.

The Old 13th Century Church Ruins of Layd are well worth your time if you ever plan to travel along the Antrim Coastline and visit the village of Cushendall. There is a little gravel car park up near the site which is just a short walk down a grassy laneway to the ruins. It is a maze of old Christian ruins which includes the old church as well as the old gravestones and what I think are old tombs as well. And on a good sunny clear day you can get some great views of the County Antrim coastline.

Really nice walk from the car park at Cushendall beach, following the cliff path and ending up at Layde Old Church.

Nice walk to approach the area. View where pleasant however it was a bit blustery not the fault of the area just open to the elements. Was a bit of a distraction whilst walking in the area. will return on a better day.

Whilst there is a car park, the church can be reached on foot and there is a lovely cliff path with fabulous views which is accessible from cushendall beach.

Approximately 30 mins from the centre of cushendall.

My dad & grandma Mary Stone were from Cushendall. They took us walking to Layd many times. Each time we are in the area we visit to look at the graves.
It's a memory of very happy times.

It might be tricky to reach (very narrow roads), but there is, at least, a parking place. It is a ruined church but quite interesting. Also, nice views over the cliffs.
