Sander was our knowledgeable instructor for a 2hr Stand Up Paddle Board session. He not only gave us guidance on what to do and where we would be going, but why we would be doing or not doing things. This included guidance on rip tides, how to spot them and use them to get out and avoid them to get back, useful knowledge for when we go out on our own. Sander obviously loves being out on the water and his enthusiasm and cheery nature made the 2hrs fly by.

Hired surf board and paddle board for the day. When we arrived the swell was so strong and we felt the children did not have enough experience to cope with the equipment in that weather. The staff were brilliant, understanding our feelings it was no problem to take out body boards instead. Even offering us an extra board!

My friend and I rented bikes from Ricky at Alive Adventures. From the outset, he was incredible. Honestly he’s like a one-man N.I.tourist board! He suggested routes, sights and pub stops along the Causeway coast - and even collected us and the bikes at the end of our trip! The bikes were amazing! Even in gale force winds, the cycling was effortless. Honestly, you’d be missing a trick to holiday in Portrush and NOT check out Alive Adventures.

Spent this morning paddle boarding with a group of girls. I had never tried it before and to say I was nervous is an understatement! Sander was fantastic at putting me at ease and explaining everything. Within no time we had made it out beyond the waves and into the harbour - with the help of Gavin, who kept us going on the right track - and keeping us calm too! Totally unexpected but had a fantastic time and would love to do it again. Thank you Alive for the opportunity to do something out of my comfort zone!

We booked a two hour tour with the instructor Sander. He was extremely nice and patient, was good fun to be around. He explained everything to a great detail and helped with our confidence. It was our first time paddleboarding and we had an amazing time, would definitely recommend, will come back again!

We had a brilliant surf lesson with Ricky. He is an excellent instructor and we had the best time! 100% recommend, we will definitely be back! Also, even though it was a frosty February morning I didn't feel the cold at all, so don't let that put you off! Thank you!

This was a wonderful experience throughout. Sander’s instruction was relevant, accurate and precise and his advice was clear and easy to follow. I certainly feel a lot more comfortable and confident and much more in control after his 2 hour stand up paddleballs lesson.

What an amazing experience, instructors were great. I'll definitely be back. The weather was wet but this didn't matter at all when in. It actually made the experience seeing the rain hitting the sea. I'd recommend this for a date or even for friends wanting to try out something new.

Our school group had a brilliant time surfing with Alive Adventures. Ricky was very personable and also arranged a lunch for us. All of our pupils had a great time and learnt a new skill. The instructors were friendly and fun. Bring a BIG towel and some sliders for crossing the grass to the beach. Highly recommend.

Paddle boarding with a group was a fantastic experience, thanks to Sander and Gavin. Professional and calm they made our group experience. I had organised this event through work and was contacted alter by the participants to say how much they had enjoyed the experience. Would have no hesitation in recommending Alive adventures for a Corporate or Community experience. Thanks everyone

Hi Izabela, I don’t run the surf school we were just a very happy group of girl guides, please contact Ricky or Hano and they will fill you in on all the available lessons... but honestly the surf was amazing.. you will have an amazing time.. even in the rain!

Hi Caoimhe,
thanks for getting in touch. Yes, we operate year round. In fact, the most consistent season for waves is the winter time. Apart from toasty wetsuits, we will then also provide boots and gloves to keep you nice and warm.
Our lessons run from 10-12, 1-3 and 3:30-5:30. Adults are £30 and under 16s £25 for a 2h lesson that includes everything: wetsuits, surfboards, changing facilities, warm showers and a snack and drink for afterwards.
Alternative packages include Surf and Stay at the hostel here in Portrush (please call 02870821288), which we can offer you for £32.50.
You can also come paddleboarding with us, where we either learn and practise techniques in the harbour or explore the magnificent coastline and paddle into caves. Check our Facebook page for videos and pictures of what you can expect when you come out with us :)

Hi what age group do you take lessons from?Am heading to Portrush on 30July for a week and think that surfing lessons would be something my 2 kids would enjoy. They are aged 12 and 7,

Hi, we start taking kids from the age of 5, so 7 and 12 are perfect age. The kids camps are really great for the kids as they have others of similar age around them, boosting their confidence and contributing to overall fun.

Hi, thanks for getting in touch and apologies for the delayed reply, we must have missed your enquiry unfortunately. We are about 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Belfast City airport and 40 minutes from the Belfast international airport in Antrim. Not sure which Natur-Med Resort you are referring to, the only one I could find on Google is in Turkey?
