Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Challenging coastal par 3 course, with undulations, two scary ravines and a strong wind to contend with. Greens a bit basic, but overall good fun and plenty to stretch the casual golfer. I'm surprised at several comments about service - we were very well looked after. We needed 3 sets of clubs for a short adult, a left-handed 12 year old and a 9 year old - the man behind the counter sorted them all out and even threw in a couple of tees.

Cod and chips in Portrush will set you back £9.50 at least. But, for 50p less, if you have your own clubs you can enjoy 9 or 18 holes at this hidden council owned gem right on the coast, roughly halfway between the better known championship courses of Royal Portrush & Portstewart. With a little imagination on the 7th or the 9th and, with the Atlantic spray beckoning and the classic Irish fairway links rolling before you, you could be forgiven for thinking you and your short irons had arrived at Golf Heaven. If you don’t have clubs with you, no problem; you can hire clubs and trolleys at a reasonable extra cost. Recycled balls are £5 for 6.

It’s holiday golf, suitable for all players, so you could play in your slippers if you like - we wore trainers which were absolutely fine, even in the middle of a very wet winter.

I first played here almost 40 years ago and going round with my son after a very long gap was like meeting up with an old friend, great fun - even during my extended stay in a bunker on the 4th and an excursion down the ravine at the 9th. We will be back, sooner next time!

Great experience every visit. One of the most beautiful places in the World. The views from this par 3 course are fantastic and an opportunity not to be missed. Even on a cold day in October!

Fantastic 9 hole course with stunning views. The 7th hole alone is worth the green fee. Bob is a gentleman too.

The customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. After we entered the shop we saw that there was a sign saying each player must have their own bag so we mentioned to the guy that we had thrown a couple of our clubs into one bag and didn't realise this was required. We were told that we would have to hire another bag and a full set of clubs before we would be permitted on the course. We decided not to proceed and the staff member then complained that he would have to do a refund which would be 'difficult' and that the one set per player has been in place for 41 years and we should have known this. If these are the rules that is fine but the way in which the staff member spoke to us was unacceptable. This was the first and last time I will visit Ballyreagh Golf Course.

Great course for improving your short game. I read some reviews complaining about rude staff. The staff member we met (small guy with an english accent) was very helpful and pleasant. The greens aren't great but can't complain for the money.

Now don't get me wrong, I love pitch and putt as much as the next man; but when faced with the arduous task of having to endure abysmal customer service from this so-called 'bald fellow' at the desk it makes me question my love for the sport. He struggled to wrap his hairless head around the fact that some people may in fact bring their own clubs, rather than fork out £6.50 to rent the same equipment used by Saint Patrick on his last golfing trip around the north coast of Ireland. When it came to payment I had to split the fee across two till terminals, a rather irksome agreement made even worse by the fact that the transaction would immediately be voided if someone rang the office phone as it interrupted the signal. I imagine our patron Saint had the exact same problem back in the day as there is obviously no way the card machine has been updated since then ... nor have the staff. As soon as you step foot into the musty office you know that the place is in disarray; and that's before you even get onto the course which, might I add, is very clearly in tatters.

Will I be back? Probably.

Will I like it? No.

Great little 9 hole pitch & putt on the beautiful coastline. Reasonable prices for round and club hire and lovely service.

Tried ringing numerous times but couldn't get through over a couple of days. Finally got through. Staff very unhelpful. Very disappointing service. Even though we weren't 'tourists' as such I would be embarrassed to take someone here if I had visitors staying with us. No explanation of how to access the course etc, did say we had never used the pitch and putt before but staff uninterested. Such a beautiful facility totally let down by customer service.
